Believe it or not, the Falcons are a better team than the Jets right now. Their defense is much more effective than the Jets defense. Also offensively, they really are not worse than the Jets, either.
The Falcons will not trade everything they have to get Brohm. Rich McKay is not moronic like that. I won't get worked up on the fact that Petrino coached Brohm in college. They'll do plenty of homework on Woodson and other guys as well, especially since the Falcons very well may not be in the top 2 or 3 in April's draft. They'll also look at guys like Colt Brennan and Matt Ryan. Norm Chow worked with Matt Leinart in college and had great success with him. Chow then went to the Titans and they took Vince Young instead, which has worked out for them. Also, USC alum Jeff Fisher wanted Leinart. The school connection doesn't always work.
I would vomit if we banked our future on Brian Brohm. He is probably the most overrated qb in college.
Yeah...I disagree with the QB pick. We need to upgrade on BOTH lines before we look at ANY skill position. Even if Clements ain't the REAL DEAL, I believe he will be adequate and/or serviceable while we build up the other elements of our team.
If we ended up with the #1 or #2 pick...sure take Brohm, but I don't see that coming to fruition. Right now we need some help on the front 7 of the defense and the oline.
I can see not liking Chad any longer, but how can anyone at this point be calling for another college QB. We all know that KC will start at some point in this season, and yeah if he sucks lets talk about another QB, but right now if we're going to talk draft lets talk what we actually need. OL and DL.
With specs like those, there's no way in hell the Jets would draft him. We like our Qb's with mediocre arms, great character and limited physical ability.
If the draft was tomorrow, where would woodson be drafted.... What about the qb from boston college ?
in order woodson ryan brohm if there is a chance to get an elite qb in the draft you HAVE TO do it, no matter what your current situation. a great elite qb can lead to years and years of winning. there are many pieces of the puzzle that can be dealt with many ways but getting an elite qb is not something you can do easily, do you think you are gonna pick one up in free agency? yeah sure peyton will be out there for us to pick up. lol not gonna happen. you can pick up decent to great players through free agency for every position on the field other than qb, that is just not a simple thing to do. unless you get really lucky with a brett favre you are going to need to get that big long term guy through the draft. i really like woodson and think he has the ability to be a GREAT qb in this league, therefore if the opportunity to get him is there and kellen doesnt prove himself to be a superstar you have to take him. sure it will put the rebuilding process back a year but its worth it in my eyes. also i would rather pay a qb big high end pick money than a guy like robertson who can be found in other ways or later in the day.
I'll have to disagree about arm strength I think he throws as good a deep ball as anybody in college ball the last five years. The guy is a warrior and plays through all sort of injuries. He's a smart QB and has had to work without a consistent RB for the last two seasons. Woodson is a great prospect, but those guys would be 1A and 1B for me right now if the CS feels that Clemens isn't the future. I'm a huge fan of Brohm.
Well unfortunately yes. This team needs a genuine NT and some OG's before the FO takes another shot at a QB. KC may or may not be the real deal. He sure as hell looked pretty damn good after he figured out the Ravens D. That or the CS finally figured out they had a QB with a real arm. Either way I can not see how this FO can draft a QB this year.
