I laugh when I read these posts that Drob is out of position--he should be at DE! Oh, really? The guy is now in his 5th year and rivals Blair Thomas as the #1 all time bust. HE IS TOO SHORT FOR DE, PEOPLE. How many passes has he EVER knocked down? Why don't we sign Drob to a $25M extension like we did with Brian (invisible) Thomas? If the jets would ever admit a few of Boobwqay's mistakes (Thomas, Nugent, Drob, Pennington's $64M contract) instead of trying to make them fit, they would not be so bad. Drob has proven for the last 5 years that the trade for him was THE worst in jets' history. The jury has come back., people.
D-Rob has no position in a 3-4 defense. Too small for NT and too short for DE. That's just what it is.
In a 3-4, he absolutely COULD play as a DE. The fact is, the 3-4 DE position is alot more comparable to his old 3T spot than is the NT spot he currently employs. He may not have great height to play the spot, but he'd certainly make up for it w/ quickness. How do i know this is true? There have ben a few times when he HAS lined up at 3-4 DE and has looked quite good...and also when henderson was the DC we'd occassionally play some 3-4 and D rob lined up at DE..and again..looked very good. BTW, the worst bust since Blair Thomas??? C'MON!
I agree with Kurt. DeWayne Robertson is by far a WORSE bust than Blair Thomas. Thomas didn't cost the Jets two first round picks AND a fourth rounder.
And it didn't take them 5 plus years to figure it out, like it has with Dslob. After 3 years of Blair, they moved on to Johnny Johnson
Actually that kind of makes sense. High draft pick...and doesn't suck...just doesn't provide the value that was paid.
Drob isn't a bad player, he's just a terrible fit in the 3-4, plain and simple. If he sayed in a 4-3 system, he could even be a little above average. But he has no place on the jets. Trade him for a OG and a sandwich for brick
