If we are Smart , we trade down then trade down again and accumulate a lot of picks This team needs a lot of help in ALL areas - one player wont make the difference.
#4. We'll have number 4. The franchise players will all go on 1, 2 and 3 and we'll be left with a no-win $40 million dollar contract for a player who is either going to boom or bust but not at the franchise player level. I know my Jets...
I agree. However, I'm a long way from accepting the premise of the question. If we wind up with the worst record in the league, we've got much larger concerns than who to draft at 1.
we are gonna spick second...right behind the pats. im a little sad that the league will let NE keep the higher of their 2 first rounders. they should have stated it that they will lose the highest pick they have. so because we are the jets we will be picking AFTER the pats, who will win the super bowl.
Maybe we can draft Bill Cohwer. 10-6 to this garbage. The only thing mangini ever does is talk in non commital jargon no wonder the only dirtection were going is straight down. I'll take my comments back if aNYONE CAN TELL ME WHAT THIS TEAM HAS DONE WELL CONSISTENTLY OTHER THAN CAUSE ME TO LOSE SLEEP!!!!!! I am also going to change my name to Clemen's now before next weeks game.
That would officially be the most disheartening thing out there, even worse than a Pats super bowl victory...
I am giving Mangini some more time here. Sure I have been dissappointed with what he has done so far this season but last year bought him some time in my book. The guy is still a young head coach so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that the mistakes he is making now will be corrected.
You may be right I could be jumping the gun Mangini was suprising last season but he also had an easy schedule and less expectations. Cohwer might not be greatest coach ever but he does have a superbowl. I want a superbowl.
Cowher took over a Steelers team that had gone 7-9 the year before he got them and 30-34 in the preceding 4 seasons, making the playoffs just once in those 4 seasons. In his first year the Steelers went 11-5 and made the playoffs. In his second year they went 9-7 ad made the playoffs. In his third year they went 12-4 and got to the AFC Championship Game for the first time in a generation. In his fourth year they went 11-5 and got to the Super Bowl. Neil O'Donnell was his QB during this whole run. Think about that for a second. In 1997 he got back to the AFC Championship Game. In 2001 he got to the AFC Championship Game. In 2004 he got to the AFC Championship Game. In 2005 he won the Super Bowl in his 14th season. He'd be like Parcells for the Jets only not as old and pissed off and much less likely to go 3 years and out. I would love to see him running the team if the current regime strikes out.
even though we have 11 games left it is safe to say we will be top 10material, and possibly top 5. with the scarcity of picks in 07 i would definitely look for the jets to be in pick acccumulation mode for 08 and even 09. with the decent 06 and efficient 07 draft, 2 more decent drafts with a couple big FA signings things can get turned around fast. of course, every time i say that something else goes awry........ jil
We won't be the worst team in the league... If Clemens struggles and we wind up with a top 10 pick you have to consider QB. If Clemens looks like he can become the future...you MUST find someone to put pressure on the QB.
