Last I checked those guys won a WS last season vs nothing for the Mets. Not saying I want them either but don't trash the guys that killed us last year.

The Mets should go nuts trying to sign AROD to play third. Go with Reyes and Gotay (put the 8 million or so they would have to sign Castillo towards ARODS contract) put Wright on first; and go cheap in the outfield (can't sign Alou for 12 million and have him miss 1/3 of the season) Beltran, Milledge and Gomez and sign SOME defensive catcher (save 8 million by not signing an aging LoDuca).

    So here is the lineup:

    Reyes
    Gotay
    Wright
    Arod
    Beltran
    Milledge
    Gomez
    catcher

So you have Reyes leading off, and the best 3,4 5 in baseball in Wright, Arod, and Beltran, and awesome potential in the bottom with Milledge and Gomez.

I think Milledge would bat 2nd over Gotay...But it's a moot point, because that will never, ever happen.

Jocketty is a terrible GM, he let the team go to hell the last few years, paying big money and getting virtually nothing from guys like Rolen and Edmonds and signing terrible players like Eckstein and Adam Kennedy. But hey, maybe he could fix our pitching staff, just convert Wagner, Heilman and Feliciano into starters. He's actually pretty similar to another incredibly overrated GM, Brian Sabean who wasted years of the best player in the game by surrounding him with trash.

People stopped liking Sabean after the atrocious Zito deal. But you're pretty much on the money.

Since Jocketty is apparently worse than Omar, how many other GMs are? Where does he rank?

Erik Bedard might be available. Should the Mets go after him? As a Bedard owner in fantasy baseball this year, I say yes. He's a great pitcher, and his injuries don't seem to be chronic. If they demanded something like Gomez/Pelfrey, would you do it?

Not sure why the Orioles would trade him nor do I think that would be even close to what it would take to get him, but sure.

I'm still holding out hope for Adam Dunn.

Sabean is awful. Liriano, Bonser, and Nathan for AJ Pierzynski. Enough said. Either Liriano or Nathan would have been bad enough. But both, and a decent young pitcher in Bonser? Awful.

Plus, every player on that team seems to be in his 40's. They're more run by veterans than anyone.

The Orioles won't be contending anytime soon, and Bedard can net them prospects for down the road...that's the theory the baseball people I read have. Of course, Peter Angelos is involved, so you never know.

And can we go over this Adam Dunn thing again? I don't really get the appeal.

Sure, 40 HR's, 100 walks. I'm not sure what there is not to like about him.

If it were that simple, he wouldn't be available. He also would be an All-Star.

What are you contesting exactly? He's hit those numbers each of the last 4 years.

I just don't think it's a total slam dunk. I like him, but I don't want to give a ton up for him.

Please no Adam Dunn on this team. They would want a top prospect or two and I'm not doing that for Dunn.

He's a free agent if the Reds decline the $13 million option.

How much a year do you think he would want? I'd give him no more than 10-11 a year. However, I'd still rather see Milledge or Gomez in right next year.
