When Omar was talking about making changes only if they make sense, Mike and the Mad Dog needed to call him out for his horrible bullpen moves last offseason.

Here's a new quote that really upsets me:

Asked about the perception that his team had lost focus and taken, to some degree, winning for granted, Randolph said, "There's only so much you can do as a coach and manager. ... I wish my players had my passion and will to win."

Really? You're going to just throw your players under the bus like that, Willie? And furthermore, if that was the case INSTILL YOUR FUCKING PASSION INTO THE FUCKING PLAYERS. This is it for me. I can't believe he said that.

Anyone see Buster Olney talking about trading Reyes, Pelfrey, Gomez for Santana and Jason Bartlett, I'm pretty sure that would be a bad trade

I want no part of any Santana trade. What the Mets would have to give up would be too ridiculous. Either wait till he hits FA and give him his 30M a year or let some other team gut their farm system for him.

That's a bad trade. Though I would be receptive to a better one...Johan is the difference between fringe playoff team and NL favorite, considering our team as is. I'd trade Milledge/Gomez/Pelfrey, plus another prospect for him. With Santana, I'd really like our chances in '08, he's just so good.

the Mets are officially a loser franchise. unfortunately, there is nothing lovable about them, like the Cubs, whose fans almost relish the agony and accept it as part of their being. you would think it would be impossible for baseball team in NY to consistently lose, but keeping Willie just exemplifies that this team is satisfied with only having a winning season every 5 years or so. pathetic. I won't root against them next year, but I'll be damned if involve myself emotionally in this team.

I dont think we can/should trade Milledge and Gomez. I'm thinking it's going to be Pelfrey, Humber, Gomez/Milledge and their choice of Guerra or F-Mart. Still, probably too much.

I'd be cool with that trade, actually, especially if it were Gomez and then Geurra. I may be in the minority, but I feel that Santana would make the Mets the team to beat, period. This is assuming the bullpen is fixed, but still/

I couldn't disagree more. They're keeping Willie because of what he did in '06, and weather or not I agree with the decision has nothing to do with the fact that the Mets intend to win. Some people on this board believe they want to win too much this year.

For all the Mets living in a fantasy land that their prospects can get Santana, remember that the Yankees have better young players they can part with. Kennedy Horne Sanchez Brackman, these are all prime pitching prospects and thats without talking about Joba Hughes or Wang. Cano and Melky are young position players and thats without discussing Tabata. No no the Yankees are definitely the frontrunners in what will be the santana sweepstakes.

The only problem is...at this point...the Yankees are not going to trade Joba, Hughes, Wang or Cano. I think you know this to be true. Will they trade Kennedy, maybe? Brackman isnt a prospect right now, he's out for a year with TJ surgery.

Don't worry, I can shoot his prospect talk down pretty fast.

A bad day was Sunday, this is slightly disappointing, if that. The pitching staff needs to be improved, if that happens the Mets can win a WS with me managing the team.

I'm not saying they don't intend to win. I'm saying they don't know how to win and are content when they do, every few years. keeping Willie for what he did in 06 just exemplifies that their satisifaction with 06 is far greater than the disaster he was in 07, and they are willing to accept that performance as acceptable.

I don't think they're content with what they do at all. They are merely content with their managerial situation (though we all agree this is misguided). There's a difference. Until they bring back a team in '08 that looks a lot like this year's team (admittedly, this is a very real possibility), I think it is best to reserve judgement.

Delgado definitely needs to go, along with just about our entire pitching staff.

Classic Willie talk. Has he ever done anything wrong in his mind?

No. Except maybe cry after the game on Sunday. I don't think that'll ever stop being funny.
