It is very confusing to me that they can be down 10 or 14 in the 3rd and they thing they have to pass every single time....Chicken wing arm can't do that.
Who's saying that? We threw 39 times) plus one sack Sunday.... When your QB struggles to pass the ball beyond 8 yards with any power or accuracy, that is WAY too much.....
Jones was a waste of money for this team and a luxury we didn't need. He could be a great back almost anywhere else but here he will be nothing. I said it the day we got him and 20 times since. Just like Revis was a waste of half our draft. He may be great but so what? He isn't going to win any games for us and after last week and the way people are throwing in his direction he may end up losing some.
This does not need its own thread as it has been discussed ad nauseum, but yes, he was wasted against Buffalo. A listened to an interview with Terrance McGee on my drive home today and he said they (the Bills defense) couldn't believe that Jones wasn't getting the ball far more.
Yeahbut the running plays are so vanilla.....try something to the outside, have a guard pull, use 2 TEs....something.....anything but making it abundantly clear that after a certain point we are abandoning the run...
At best Jones is a 3.7 yard a carry type back with this o-line. And realistically he's going to wind up more like 3.4. That's not his fault, it's just indicative of how weak the Jet's line really is. The only argument I can see for acquring him at this point was to save the tread on Leon Washington's tires until the rebuilding is a bit further along. Effectively sacrificing Jones as a well-known back who could plausibly take the majority of the carries this season without damaging Washington's standing.
Outside... how about we try just giving him the damn ball first. 12 Carries... are you kidding. Mangini and Shotty should get thier collective heads out of Leon Washingtons ass and give this guy the ball. He should touch the ball 20 to 25 times a game... I don't care what the circumstances are at this point... 20 - 25 times. Thats the only way our line will get better. We aren't going to win more than 7 games this year... it's painfully obviouis, so how about we get the young guys on the line, and give hime the ball, put Clemens in and play some friggin football. We might actually start to look like a football team then.
Throwing 39 times is a indication of two things when looked at from the out side ; Either a shoot out (That not it) Or long drives up and down the field (We sniffed the end zone 4times) the amazing stat of 15 straight came in desperation time. We were running out of time playing catch up ...again and the stats get padded when they let you catch everything in front. But then the familiar becomes predictable they jumped on the same short pass. Jones Could have been employed a lot more in the game but that option was removed by being behind with minuets left!
Very good Ellis92.....It is crazy that we get so excited about getting a running like Jones so he sits 1\2 the game and watches Chad pass 6 yards at a time.
