I now have a mancrush on him , read this: The following was reported by Cannizaro: Link to Canolizaro report September 28, 2007 -- Further illustrating the hatred that exists between the Jets and Dolphins was an incident that occurred prior to last Sunday's game. Fullback Darian Barnes, who signed with the Jets in the offseason after playing the previous two seasons in Miami, saw Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter around midfield and the two began jawing at each other. "You going to try to make a name for yourself?" Porter chirped to Barnes, who scoffed at him. "Joey Porter is a [bleep]," Barnes recounted yesterday. "He's been trash talking for years. What was he trying to prove coming up to me at the 50 yard line (before the game) like it was some sort of showdown? I'm not worried about Joey Porter. He hasn't hit anybody in eight years." When a photographer approached Barnes to tell him he had a good shot of he and Porter talking before the game, Barnes asked if he could have a print so he could send it to Porter and write the words "[Bleep] you" on it. "I'm as serious as a heart attack," Barnes said to the photographer. Porter, who has made nine tackles in three games this season, his first with Miami after eight with Pittsburgh, made news yesterday by guaranteeing the Dolphins (0-3) will beat the Raiders on Sunday, saying, "Write it how you want to write it. We will win on Sunday." Those words surely didn't surprise Barnes.
Barnes looked very good at TC. Hey speaking of man-crush, did anybody notice my man, "Polish Joe" Kowalewski (40), throwing a couple of real nice blocks for Thomas Jones on Sunday? I think they were both to the right side... they had him in for only a couple of plays that I noticed, but the kid can block. He took one of the Dolphins and pushed the hell out of him to the sidelines and Jones took the hole and grabbed about 8 yards on both plays.
ROFL!.....Actually not bad just dont throw 2 him...no kind of hands. Joey is @ the end of his career just like most of the guys on that defense
Funny story, thanks for the post, I needed a laugh. Is anyone regretting not picking up Porter now. Pburgh knew he was slowing down.
Living by Steeler country, I do not doubt thier Fron Office on moves like that. Almost everyone of them has worked out for the better. Let go a top notch linebacker and he's nothing in another scheme or really on the decline. Thats the Steeler MO and its been nothing but good for them. :steelers:
This is a perfect example of why Fatizaro is a moron... they're both in their 1st seasons with the teams in the 3rd game... can they really have hatred at this time cuz of the Rivalry? dope.
Porter lost a step after the superbowl. He was a heck of a player but still more of a system player, never really beat anyone if he got engaged. Not sure why the Dolphins signed him.
Does it bother anyone else when somebody makes one of these guarantees? It only meant something once and that was when the great Joe Willie did it. Everyone else who does this is just an attention-seeking moron without the wit to come up with an original way to get attention. The only thing that's worse is that the media always report it. They should just ignore it.
It doesn't bother me at all - I think it's just someone trying to get their team fired up and I don't see anything wrong with that. Of course Namath's prediction has become legendary and will probably never be matched in terms of historical significance, but I don't think that's what the point is.
Namath said his just kind of came out, he didn't think it was a big deal when he said it. When it got around, it became a big deal.
DId you see that on the "Greatest teams ever" show on NFL network? I saw it the other night, and I'm only 24, so It was really great to see highlights and interviews with Philbin and Maynard (who is so awesome) and all.
Yes I did. I'd heard him say that before but it was refreshed by watching that broadcast. That was great stuff, unfortunately I was closing in on 2 years old when that all happened.
