Pitching matchup A guy vs Pedro Martinez The Mets have not lost a series when I start threads (total W-L record: 3-0 in 2006; 9-4 in 2007). They better not start now. Once again, I probably will not appear much in a Mets thread started by me for I have three shows to watch on CBS starting at 8pm. Pedro Martinez pitching, me starting a thread and then ignoring it for the most part- those things usually work out well.

Can we stop with the heart stuff it's pretty ridiculous. The Mets have scored 6 or more runs in 8 of the last 9 games and gone 4-5 during that stretch. It's been no one's fault but the pitching staff.
true to an extent, but still no excuse to not be able to put a run or 2 up last night from the 5th inning on against the NAT bullpen.... to me it's a collective failure on all fronts....seems they offensively can put up #'s early in games but never later after the stellar pitching blows whatever lead they have

In an effort to break the hex on the Mets these days I won't post anything negative or criticize Randolph's moves the rest of the way. I read in the Cubs thread that Trachsel is pitching for them tonight. At least we've got Pedro going.
I think I've been even more negative about Willie than you have lately, so I will also sign up for the Sunshine and Lollipops Express to appease the gods of niceness. Edit: I don't know that I can maintain that for 4 games, however.
you can't look at the game overall and just say the Mets scored 6 runs, it should have been good enough. the offense played like crap for 5 innings -- more than half of the game! sure, the pitching sucked, but that doesn't absolve the offense for not being able to come up clutch when the team needed hits and runs.
I'll go ahead and follow the "be nice to Willie" theme. I think we should have like a buzzword though, for when he does something dumb. I nominate "Kotite".
