I didn't know we have one QB now of NFL caliber. Well, maybe we have one but we won't see him again any time soon. He is certainly not the playmaker Brennan would be though.

The last I checked you don't build a team around a defensive or offensive lineman either. We used our last two high first round picks on one of each. In another year they will both be called busts the way things are going.

You are unfortunately sorely mistaken. Winning teams build through the trenches. Ask the Texans.

Quick update with only two games to play still. As of now, Indy picks last, Atlanta picks first and the Jets drop to the 6th pick.

Also, one more interesting thing, this is the first week New England didn't win 38 - 14, they won 38 - 7. What are the odds a team scores 38 that frequently? It's not like it is a common number.

I would say that if / when(?) we had the 3rd pick I would either (a) trade down or (b) take chris Long. If D-Brick doesn't pan out, then at least we would have two (much money?) good OTs that would help the old offense!

    Um...What??

    *EDIT*

Ah...I think you meant Jake Long. I wouldn't argue with that pick. I feel like we would be better suited with getting a Guard which might be better to do in the second, depending on where we draft.

If we are able to get Okam in next years draft I would love it at this point, but with our strength of schedule, I don't see us picking high enough.

Calais Campbell? What position do you think he would play in our defense?

I listed him third. Okam would be real nice. If you had one player to pick on defense, Rambo, who would it be?

Hmmm.... Great question. I think for our team, it would have to be either Okam at DE or Quentin Groves at OLB. They just seem like great fits for the 3-4.

Don't get me wrong, I think Dorsey and Campbell are great players but Dorsey seems like he would be just like Dewayne Robertson for us, a potential star in a miscast scheme. As far as Campbell goes, I am still waiting for someone to tell me where you put a 6'8'' DE with great speed and power. You would think he might make a good 3-4 DE, I can't see him playing LB but maybe 4-3 DE is where is going to end up. I gotta say, Dorsey and Campbell belong at the top of any list of defensive prospects. Campbell is a once in a generation prospect but I think you need a creative DC to take advantage of him and I'm not sure we have that right now. On the other hand, it is tough to pass up such great talent. If we reverted back to the 4-3, I might switch my picks to Campbell and Dorsey instead of Groves and Okam. Can you imagine Robertson and Dorsey inside? I dare say we wouldn't have much problem stoppign the run because of their interior pressure!

Well I think we need to look at where we are weakest and what is the larger concern -- LG or DT. I think both are huge problems and if we can sneak our way into the first round a second time to get both positions that would be amazing. i dont know enough about Okam, any links?

    From ESPN:

It seems like if you are a big DT you are assumed to take plays off.

    He doesn't sound too promising.

I'd say the Alan Branch comparison is spot on. Big guys are only so plentiful. He probably isn't going to be a NT but might be able to rotate in on end to provide some girth. He was talked up a lot last year but didn't come out. I would absolutely not be surprised if he dropped to the second round like Alan Branch but I think the team that gets him late will get a steal. Perhaps top - 10 isn't reasonable but how often do you get a shot at a 6'4" 325 lbs player.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a great NT prospect and hasn't for a while. Raji from BC looked like he might be a good fit but he is redshirting

That is the problem with the 3-4. The players that fit are scarce. That is why it died for awhile. The reason that NE and PIT succeeded was because they could get starters in the 2nd and 3rd round but now that there are like 10 teams playing it it is much harder to stock up.
