I was at the game Sunday. Had to leave my house extra-early to get a parking spot I wanted. So I left the house at 9am and got off the TNPK at about 9:45. Couldn't believe my eyes! The lot looked almost full!

But we cruised over to Gate C and I got a decent spot near the exit ramp where I usually tailgate so I can get out fairly easily. For us, half the battle of getting home is to position yourself early enough in the parking lot to enable you to get out into the mainstream traffic quickly at the end. It was still a hassle though, because the TNPK backed up.

So, I can't blame some fans for wanting to leave early because the parking bullsh*t is making for a VERY long day. My son left his house at 8am to get to my house in order for us to leave at 9am. Then we stayed to the end (well, until it was obvious that we had the ball after that on-sides kick) and we didn't get back to my house until 5pm. Then he still had the one-hour drive back to his house, so you're looking at a 10-hour day for him to see a 3-hour game.

Still, I think fans who walk out of any Jets game in the early-to-mid 4th quarter are not real Jets fans. They're ususally the ones who get there late and they're probably the ones who have their heads up their asses as far as knowing where to park and what time to get there to align themsleves for an easy exit strategy.

The most hilarious example of complete stupidity (and embarrassment) had to be the Dolphins-Jets game that we won 51-45. 70% of the stands bailed out because we were so far behind at the beginning of the 4th quarter. So the assholes race through the turnstyles and they're out in the parking lot and suddenly hear all the cheers from inside the stadium. They turn on their radios and realize what they're missing, so the imbiciles now assault the turnstyle area, begging freakin' security to get back in!

Of course, they missed the best Jets comeback ever. So let that be an example of what can happen when you bail out on your team. Needless to say, I can always tell a real season ticketholder from a fraud by asking him, "Did you stay 'till the end of that game?" If so, have a beer. If not, you're a f*cking asshole.

Hehehe, I'll take my beer now. The jets have never had great fans, or particularly intelligent ones imo. At least we don't have those "Get your season tickets before they run out!" like the fins:rofl:

I haven't bothered to backread this whole thread because it's obvious from the title and the tenor what it's saying.

Personally, I think telling fellow Jets fans that they suck is a pretty shitty thing to do.

And arrogant and pointless. Sorry to sound like champ here, but we have a team that hasn't won a championship in almost 40 years, hasn't appeared in the Super Bowl since, has won all of two division titles in all that time, and has had no home stadium of its own since 1983. Yet we put nearly 80,000 people into the house every game and we have about a ten year waiting list for season tickets.

So excuse me if I don't stand up on third down after we've just given up first downs on the last five or six third down conversions in a row. I'm superstitious, sometimes I feel like doing something different might help.

Yeah, them and the Devils have saved me from being 0-for-life so far, and I'm getting pretty fucking old. Right about now I'd say the Jets are closer than the Knicks are, Devils probably still the closest to winning one.

I know exactly what you mean about being superstitious. I always want to get up on big third down plays, but I get my heart broken so many times that sometimes I will ramain seated. There is nothing worse when it is 3rd and 10, everyone is screaming and the other team gets a first down. Or this is even worse... 4th and 1 , the RB breaks through the line for a TD!

I sit by the goal line, too. So if the play is down the other end and the opponent's offense has their back to us almost 100 yards away, I don't know that it matters.

Wow, and I thought Alios post was bad. You go from "I don't blame people for leaving early" to "Anybody that leaves early is a blankety blank".............all in the same post. Way to argue both sides of the coin & way to talk to your fellow Jets fans.

You mean, as in the way you're talking to this fellow Jets fan right now?

The parking situation right now is horrendous. Despite the Prepaid nonsense, spaces are at a premium and it's necessitating hitting the parking lots a lot earlier now while also making exiting a lot more difficult.

So I guess my above point (and seemingly two-sided argument) is that right now, I don't blame ticketholders for leaving a little early AS MUCH as I did when everything was wide open. They might have a legitimate excuse right now, but that doesn't apply to better times, when there was none.

    Comprende, Amigo?

You're comparing how I talked to how you talked?

Gator: Hey, 227, You're arguing both sides of the coin. Hey Alio, how can you say that?

    Sec 227: Anybody I don't agree with is a stupid idiot f**king A**hole.

    I'm civil, you're borderline banable.

Oh, I got ya. When we had Gagne people out there actually stayed for the 9th inning. They'd play "Welcome to the Jungle" and the place would go crazy.

Good. If you're civil, let's talk about the subject of the thread, shall we?

How many games do you go to and how do you compare previous games with Sunday's game, in terms of fans leaving early? Have you been to a game this season?

I didn't go Sunday because I went week 1 and I went to Baltimore and I wanted to go to my kids soccer game. I set up on the sidelines with my headphones for the Jets game and just before the opening whistle he got a tummy ache and sat on my lap the whole game. He's 6. We couldn't leave because I brought snack for the team. :)

Week 1 was a disaster in every way. I actually stayed later than most because my son was with me and he hates leaving. Week 2 in Baltimore....those fans are amazing. When Ray Lewis picked off that pass we raced to the car and were on 95 within 4 1/2 minutes of the play. Not one fan had moved. Week three, I came home from soccer and was just happy they won. I think I napped because I played softball in the AM and it was like 90 degrees at soccer. I woke up to see the Jints comeback, which kinda ruined things a little.

Relax everyone, this thread could be locked any second, so tread carefully. I don't like the idea of having a thread that says a group of Jets fans suck, especially a group that I'm a part of.

ditto..... anyone that plunks down the $$ for these tix and takes a lot of hours out of their weekend to attend is entitled to come or go as they please and sit or stand when they feel like it.

do i wish we were louder on D, yes, but I never get on anyone......there are some guys in my section who give people a hard time about standing up and yelling and shit......but hey everyone can do what they want.....some people are there with their kids/wives etc......standing up and being loud is not really part of their experience.....so be it....

if the fans at home on their couches have got criticisms. they should get their asses off the couch and go buy some tixx

Right. It's easy to criticize season ticketholders from the couch.

Still, I understand where Alio's post is coming from. Who wants to see red seats in the 4th quarter, whether you're there or on the couch?

I'm still saying, though, that this parking thing is a nuisance. Not making any excuses for those who left early this past Sunday (many did so when the game was far from over, especially the way Miami was going through our DEF), but I can't help but think many of them were afraid of the traffic jam they were facing. Maybe that's an excuse for some, but it doesn't excuse the ones who habitually have left early.

The guys in the row in front of me have done it ever since they got their tickets. It's like clockwork, regardless of what's going on. To me, that's inexcusable, but it's their loss. I've seen some really exciting endings with an unobstructed view, I might add, because they headed for the door.
