This maybe one of the silliest threads ever on TGG amonst so many silly threads in the past. Far more important would be to discuss our D since that is what wins or loses games not fans not cheering or coming into the stadium 10 minutes or leaving early. Last I looked fans DO NOT play the game it is the players signed by our FO that does.
They beat the Dolphins for their first win of the season, and had some excellent plays doing so, and that couldn't bring the crowd together? That crowd yesterday was an embarassment. In fact, it's the second time this year that the home crowd has been an embarassment. You can rationalize all you want, but that is the fact.
The last time the Jets had good crowd noise was sometime in 2006. The Jets are 0-2 in bringing crowd noise in 2007.
Crowd noise makes a huge diference to the team. It is important. Just listen to Ladanian Tomlinsons post game conf last week he addressed what the crowd did for the Pats Defense. So people do have a right to be upset. Its embarrasing when the announcers say something about it.
To improve you have to have players with abiliities & sorry to say we have very few on the D side of the ball. Maybe Revis, Harris, Rhodes is a base but all the rest are bottom of the barrel players & have to be changed out
Not sure how you can mention 2 rookies and not mention Vilma. But he definetly is under achieving. We have no pass rush at all. That is what we need.
You find wisdom in many odd places, but I have to agree. On top of that, I think elite athletes waiving their arms to get the crowd fired up look foolish. Take off your skirts and play football. Leave the cheerleading to the girls on the sideline.
Did you see the game yesterday? I almost fell out of my seat after Vilma made a solo tackle in the 3rd quarter after whiffing about 4 or 5 other times trying to tackle Brown.
You could not be more wrong there. In places like Washington, Denver, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Green Bay, the noise is deafening and it creates false starts, delays of game, and confusion that can lead to turnovers. There is a reason some cities call it "the twelfth man". Home field advantage only exists if the fans make it a reality.
That's probably the most stupid comment in this thread. Congratulations. No one is claiming that suddenly the Jets would be the Patriots. Simply put, crowd noise makes it difficult on an offense. Linemen can't hear the snap count, and have to go on a guess, resulting in false starts. You get delay of game penalties because the WRs can't hear the QB's audibles. It's another factor, and is supposed to be the reason teams work for home field advantage. What do you think the Jets would like to play a game in January in the Meadowlands rather than in, say, San Diego for the weather? Oh, and I guess that crowd noise has so little effect that Mangini doesn't bother blasting music during practice to simulate crowd noise, because we all know that crowd noise doesn't affect a team, right? Oh. Wait. Do you even think before you post? Or do you simply come up with the most ridiculous thing you can think of, and post it if it goes squarely against what the majority is saying?
