Not a popular thread but I would have preferred Clemens over Chad this week and the rest of this year. As I posted on this site last March, the jets should have moved Chad last spring when his value was never higher. He's got a lot of heart and a good head, but Chad does not have the arm or mobility to win a Super Bowl--this year or ever That IS why teams play the games, isn't it? (Look for 8 in the box this week).

    No it not

Clemmens looked like a babe in the woods last week, not finding his bread crumb trail until the 4th quarter. He exhibited some of the worst clock management I've ever witnessed. He shows promise, but he needs more time to develop.

Had Chad started last week, which by the looks of him in the warm up video, he was certainly capable of -- we would be 1-1 right now. I understand why he sat -- why take chances? There are a lot of winnable games ahead, no sense aggravating the ankle.

That game was winnable. Chad would have won it. Just like he'll win at home against the Foreskin Fins.

I rather have the heart, strength, and leadership of Chad then a arm and mobility.

They aren't going to put Clemens in there unless Chad is injured or when things are out of reach.

After rewatching the game tape, i have to agree that Chad is deffinately the right man to start this weekend. I know we need to give Clemens time to develope. But i like to win and Chad will give us a good chance to do that. Clemens over threw a fair few passes, he took too long on the ball, and his reading of the defense was not the best. He has a great mentor in chad to teach him about the mental side of the game, and reading defenses etc, sure Clemens has a strong arm but if he is taking too long to release he is giving coverage time to adapt to the routes. For me Clemens sits and studies for just a bit longer. He is showing promise though

Somebody seems to have forgotten that Chad does nothing but win; is tougher than Brett Favre, faster than Mike Vick outrunning an angry pitbull, smarter than the sum of the Mensa members combined and more durable than iron.

We’re on the verge of a 14 game win streak; with a genius for a coach and Chad as out starter, we CAN’T lose.

I personally think Chad is the best QB on our roster and gives us the best chance to win the most games this year. But I do agree with Tomdeb that I dont think he is capable of winning a superbowl with THIS TEAM. Our defense and Oline are NOT Superbowl caliber at this point (hopefully that will change soon enough). If Chad had those two things at his disposal, he would be capable of winning us a SB.

So I think Clemens should start because he is the future QB of this team. I dont know why people expected him to go out in his first game and be the best clock manager and smartest QB out there. I thought he played very well as he didnt make dumb throws, took sacks when he had to, kept us in the game, and gave us a chance to win it. If he doesn't get playing time now, then he will be forced to take those rookie qb lumps whenever we make that switch. If our defense and Oline really improve over the next 2 years, why would we want to risk having an inexperienced QB ruin the chances of us winning a SuperBowl (ie Rex Grossman).

Chad will win us around 9 or 10 games as a starter this year. Since our Lines and D isnt good enough as of right now, we will struggle if we make the playoffs. I would rather see what Clemens can give us for the future so that when our team is ready, our QB will be a stud.

Chad is the best Qb ever to suit up and play in the NFL. He can manage a game. He's intelligent. His accuracy inside of 15 yds is legendary. There's no way any other Qb will ever be successful with this team.

Clemens, Vilma and Barton should be traded immediately for undisclosed DP's or simply given away. We have no need for them. D'Brick is a revelation at the guard position and DRob is the best NT in Jets history.

This team will go 12-4 and challenge for the AFC championship this season make no mistake. We're better than the Patriots, the Chargers , the Colts and the Steelers combined.

We're going to the SB with Chad THIS YEAR! This team is a dynasty in the making!!!!!!

    Now, pass the pipe.

So because our "Team" sucks means Chad is @ Fault?
    Wow, talk about misguided.

Oh wait, If Kellen is the QB then we become the Favorites to win itall!??
    Start him Immediately!!!

I'm not the one making Chad out to be the second coming of Christ here. I'm not the one saying any Qb that has a NFL calibre arm can't possibly be successful especially if he plays on the Jets. I'm not the one pining for the Dink, Dunk and Punt offense that's been so successful over the last several years.

I've lost count of all the AFC championship games we've been in. I've also lost count of all the SB and all the Lombardi trophies we own. I can't remember all those Pro Bowls Chad has been in as well. All I've heard is how great Chad manages a game and how Chad won't lose a game. Even now, with our future commitment to Clemens, folks still refuse to move on past ol' reliable.

I'm glad the Jets didn't draft Cutler, Lienart or Quinn. They would have let those kids rot on the bench with a clipboard for a tombstone while Chad executes the DDP to perfection.

And so it goes with the Jets. Chad will continue on as SQB of the NYJ's and the DDP offense will continue to keep DC's occupied with what's on the menu at Waffle House or IHOP.

No wonder we haven't won it all over the last 3plus decades. We don't need to since as long as we have Chad, we'll always have a chance to win.

Lets face the truth, we will not be a SB team this year so I say let Chad stay on the bench and give the kid a year of experience. I want the gun not the heart.

Chad is this year's scapegoat. Every year grumpy Jet fans need to look somewhere to stick the blame and Chad's number is up this year. He was gaining momentum, but now that Herm is in KC and Bradway is out of the way and we are 0-2 someone has to pay for all this. :breakdance:
