This guys stint in NY has been atricious outside of some good play last year. He cost the Jets the game today bottom line. Two dropped TD passes late in the 4th quarter on an obviously crucial drive is all I need. Back to the doghouse he goes. Better yet to free agency he goes. He cost the Jets a crucial win early in the season. Thats all I need to see given his history.
That first drop was unforgivable. If Stucky wasn't on IR, I would agree with releasing him. Although Frisman Jackson can't be worse.
If nothing else he should be released to send a message to a team that has looked pathetic in most aspects of the game for two straight weeks. Perform or or you will be replaced. JMac is not good enought to have a bad day and let all be forgotten. He has no equity with the fans and hopefully none with the coaching staff. He got two chances and couldn't get it done. Perhaps Clemmens should apologize for hitting him in the hands.
i totally agree that mccareins dropped two balls he absolutely shouldve had, but i dont know if releasing him at this point is in our best interests. lets wait and make sure that cotch is 100% before we just dump him. trying to put a silver lining on this...maybe teams will continue to not respect him and he'll continue to get open and maybe, hopefully, mangini will kick his ass enough this week that he wont drop gimmies like he did today (or at least get him some of that sticky gel that they used in that movie the Replacements) i mean, i agree that if we have a suitable replacement and the wr corps is healthy he should go cause he's had more than enough chances to prove himself, but im also thinkin that maybe releasing him just to prove a point isnt the best move at this particular moment.
Give me Brad Smith or Wallace Wright over this clown. Too bad Stuckey is injured...he could've easily supplanted McCareins at this point.
No way should we release JMac and pay him to sit. We should, however, take whatever we can get for him, even if it's a large pizza and a six pack. Call Washington.
McCareins has become the anti-Chrebet, it's so pathetic. Add to the fact that, after preseason games are over, he has once against reverted to looking like a wounded gazelle every time the ball enters a 10-yard radius of him... he should have been cut last season. Cap or no cap. Waste of a roster spot.
That was last season. I don't think it would cost us a hell of a lot to release him now, and it's probably why he was playing like a madman (yet again) in the offseason.
