If you were playing poker and someone was looking at your cards, would you call him out and make him stop, or call the police and alert the local newspapers.

Supposedly a Jets security guard spotted this asshole on our sidelines and notified NFL Security. They observed the dork for awhile, then followed him into the tunnel just before halftime as he was headed back to the Cheatriots locker room. They confronted him in the hallway and a heated, one hour "conversation" ensued which took almost the entire 2nd half. finally, with the help of the NJ State Police, the dipshit surrendered the camera to NFL Security, who in turn sealed it and forwarded it to NFL headquarters.

I don't know how you can all him a rat for this. It's not like as the defensive coordinator, he's on some moral high-ground where he should have blown the whistle on his own team. He's doing his job.

And what he did was for the benefit of his own team. Do you think the Jets care if the Pats are taping anyone else? Do you think that's why Mangini did it - for the good of the NFL? No. He did it to level the playing field for his own team, which is what he should have done.

I'm not saying he's 100% clean, but he picked his spot to do this, and made his move. It would have been much worse if he waited longer to say something.

I am going to ask politely that certain Pats fans stop trolling here. If you can not have civil conversations without name calling, you are not welcome here.

No, but if you're playing in a casino, you'd tell the dealer or the pit boss, right? That's exactly what they did.

Honestly, you're example holds no water...

If there was no unfair advantage to be gained (and not necessarily in Sunday's game), why was Estrella doing what he was doing? Belly cheated, he was caught, and unless PROOF surfaces that it's been going on elsewhere, he was the only one doing it. Not that I'm so naive to think that other teams aren't employing the same tactics, Jets included perhaps, it's that Goodell needs a goat on this issue and Belly's served himself up on a silver platter. The NFL is entertainment and the masses love a good execution.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are playing up the drama, because if this post is from the heart, then you are one sad, pathetic geek.

Look at it this way, it's one of two things:

*If the Pats are the only ones doing it, they cheated and they are busted.

*If everyone is doing it and the Pats are the only ones who keep getting caught, then Bellichick isn't quite as smart as everyone thought he was.

yea 45 seconds was enough time for the pats to call out the steelers plays as heinz ward stated

and just so every1 is clear...the cameraman was on the patriots sideline, not the jets

    Bingo: The non-genius exposed.

How stupid is it to send Estrella onto the opposite side of the field (with Cheatriots credentials, mind you), to stand there and blatantly film the Jets' calls, when you know the HC used to work for you and is probably wise to what you're up to?

    Either he:

    1) Thought he could get away with it without us noticing, or

    2) Knew we would know what's going on but would be afraid to say anything and turn him in to NFL Security, or

    3) You're arrogant as hell and just don't give a f@ck.

Either way, you've got to be one, dumb son-of-a-bitch.

This is the second or third time this has been mentioned and I'd like to know for sure. Every article I've read has said Estrella was on the Jets' side of the field. Which is it? Has this been officially cleared up?

One problem with this theory.......Heinz Ward is an offensive player. He's talking about offensive plays. The offensive plays are called in by encrypted radio directly to the quarterback. There are no offensive signals other than audibles.

Heinz Ward is also a long time crybaby, who is still looking for an excuse why they got their butt kicked in the AFCCG twice. I suppose that the Pats blocked a kick and returned a punt for touchdowns because of stolen signals. Waaaaaaaaaaaa!

this is the official story.,.. sorry no link but

"Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella was stationed on the New England sideline when he was approached by league security officials and had his camera and videotape seized in the middle of the first quarter Sunday"

now this can be interpreted 2 ways.

    1) He was caught videotaping from the NE sideline

    2) He was videotaping on the jets sideline, walked back over to the pats side, and was then approached by security.

my interpretation fro all accounts was that he was on the pats side taping across field

again cheating is cheating.. offense or defense you still have the same amount of time to recognize a play and prepare for it
