I don't know about that. I keep thinking about this quote from Kerry Rhodes after the game: ?It seemed like (Brady) knew what we were doing; it seemed like he made all the right checks,? Rhodes said. ?I guess we?ve got to do a better job of hiding things.? I wouldn't put it past the Pats to do ANYTHING they could to win and win convincingly. Including stealing signals. It's not like it hasn't happened before. It's commonplace in baseball, not tolerated, but commonplace.

The Fan just reported that someone on the Pats side had a camera aimed at the Jets sidelines and was apparently videotaping signals or calls. There is also a report of "unidentified frequency signals" that is under investigation. Leave it to Belichick to run a clandestine CIA operation. What a f@cking tool.
It's probably not that big of a deal, but it certainly gives them an edge, whatever it is, for this week or for future weeks, and it needs to be dealt with. Chances are, nothing will happen. But if something does happen...

You're probably right, but either way, it's illegal, and it shouldn't be tolerated. But there still is a chance they could have applied it to that game. And I think they should be punished heavily for cheating on the game if there is anything on that tape. It gives them an unfair advantage, as if someone was going over the salary cap or signing players under the table.
Because the ability to see the signals AFTER the play is run is far different than seeing the signals before the play is run. Secondarily the teams are usually between the Coaching staffs giving the signals...

No, no...this makes a lot of sense. The guy sneaks in on Saturday night with all his equipment. He decides to wear his Patriots gear while he's at it. Instead of a nondescript digital camera with a zoom, he pounds a hole in the wall and is stringing A/V cable behind the bench.... C'mon Jets fans. Don't you know BS when you hear it? This is just Mangini screwing with the Pats...it was probably some equipment guy moving in the Pats gear...they took his cell phone with a camera and threw him out. It's as simple as that.

The notion that the person would venture onto the New York sideline to obtain images of the signals made no sense to us. Now, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that NFL security confiscated a video camera and a videotape from a Patriots' employee who was on the Patriots' sideline. Per Mortensen, the camera and the tape were placed into a sealed box and shipped to the league office for further review. Mort's version makes a lot more sense -- if someone is going to record signals, it's not going to happen on the opposing team's sideline. The images will be shot from the safety of the sideline of the team for which the person with the camera works. In 2006, the Patriots reportedly caused a "sternly written letter" regarding the videotaping of signals and/or play-calling gestures. Also, Mortensen mentions that a similar incident occurred last year, when the Patriots played at Lambeau field. Since quarterbacks have radios in their helmets, the only signals to be stolen would relate to calls made on defense. Stuff like this usually gets brushed under the rug, due in part (in our opinion) to the reluctance of the league office to air dirty laundry. If, however, the tape in that camera shows that the person using it was making like Brodie at Deathblow, the league might have no choice but to take action. Especially in a climate where Commissioner Roger Goodell is smacking down players who misbehave.

The story, first reported by Scout.com, said Jets security caught a Patriots employee filming New York?s coaches as they signaled the field. Jets spokesman Bruce Speight referred all questions to the league, where NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment, as did Stacey James of the Patriots. The allegations continue a pattern of behavior the league was made aware of during the first month of last season, when NBC?s Charley Casserly reported the Pats had been accused of stealing signs in one of their first four games. Later that season, multiple sources in Green Bay confirmed the Pats had done the same thing, providing some vivid detail. During that Nov. 19 game, a man identifying himself as a Patriots employee asked a security guard if he could shoot footage of Lambeau Field prior to the game and permission was granted. Just before the game, he requested to stay on the sidelines to film quarterback Tom Brady for the coaching staff. However, he was soon spotted filming the Packers? defense and signaling Patriots coaches. A member of the Packers? security staff witnessed the exchange and asked him to leave.
