just got back from the game...and i was just shocked that this was a mangini/shotteheimer offense. no reverses, not one pass ATTEMPT going over 15 yards, almost every first down a two-yard run up the gut.

how can we expect to have a good running game if we don't air it out a little, spread the field??? i mean justin mc is good at the deep ball, we've seen it, THROW it. we know chad has a weak arm, but i mean the guy can throw 40 yards.

and brad smith got no opportunities either. isn't he our "x-factor" ?

i mean i thought the offense was OK, moved the ball a bit and the defense was the real problem, but still we can't win with ONLY this dink and dunk crap

u cant put any of this on the offense. chad did what he needed to and that was score points and keep the ball for a while. You cant expect the offense to put up 30+ points per game. The playcalling really was not that bad. Yea i do have complaints, i.e that they did not throw one deep and that they rarely play actioned. Play Action is huge for this offense because chad is so good at it and yet they dont call it. But this loss was not the offense's fault whatsoever.

What are your thoughts on the mock cheers for Pennington and cheers for Clemens? Did it sound like that to you or was it support for Chad?

How are they going to throw a pass beyond 15 yards if the receivers don't have time to get 15 yards downfield? They try a reverse they lose 8 yards minimum. Pennington was going at their secondary, but he did not have time to let plays develop. The whole line sucked, including Brick and Mangold. TJ had a couple of nice runs but was being met behind the LOS nearly every time he handled the ball. It looked very much like last year, if not worse.

They just got spanked by a superior team. Don't worry about it just yet. This is an 8-8 team this year, maybe not even that good, don't be so judgemental just yet.

I thought play-calling was fine. I wasn't really expecting Pennington to air too many out considering that's not really his forte.. and seeing the pocket collapse every play certainly didn't help him out any. Our o-line didn't give any opportunities for a run game either. We lost because the patriots embarrassed our lines, both sides of the ball, and play-calling couldn't have stopped that.

On a separate note, I just found out this is our biggest loss to NE in 5 years. sucks

when chad went down, i and every1 in my area looke genuinly concerned. lots of O GOD faces...i dont get too worked up over this, no1 cheered chad getting hurt, they cheered the unknown young backup. every1 loves the backup, always have. i was surprised when ppl cheered clemens 5-yard completion on 3rd and 20 when he came in...was i the only one that realized we were still 15 yards short with no plays left?

The Patriots owned time of possession, and they owned the Jets offensive line. How creative can you be under those conditions?

I agree with xxedge.. Our OL was manhandled, and not just LG. ALL 5 positions, including the do-nothing-wrong Mangold.

I thought that the play calling was quite creative and maximized Chad's skills. There were no passes over 15 yards because Chad is not really capable of them anymore.

They did a lot of short passes over the middle essentially taking a page out of the Patriots' play book for the last 5 years. Though this may not be creative, it seems to work because these were the only plays we moved the ball.
