:drunk: I was having a drunken conversation last season with my friend Jeff (who is a Lions fan). We had just lost that heartbreaker to The Colts, so I was understandably deep in my cups. Jeff and I were discussing the woes we face as Jets and Lions fans when this pearl of wisdom slurred out of my mouth . . . "Being a Jets fan is like listening to a retarded person try to explain what it's like to have Downs Syndrome."
Yeah. I don't consider myself a mean person, but after 16 beers (99 cents each!), I guess goofy/insensitive stuff comes out.
in college on our fraternity email list we were engaged in a regular bout of philly bashing. It was like 10 people against 2. I went to school in Philly so NYer's gotta stick together against the tidal wave of trash that lives down there. So i wrote something about not winning a championship since like 1949 or something like that. So i get this email back saying "shut up, you like jets, thats like rooting for the kid with downs syndrome". Being a jets fan to me is all about showing up everyday because you are committed to this team. No matter if the team has all Division I-AA players or 22 All-Pros. You show up and root for your team and that never changes. Its something special, like being a Chicago Cubs fan or until recently a Bosox fan. All the heartbreak in the world couldn't sway me from the Green and White, and in my short 23 year life I've had my share.
What reason could you have to be a lions fan? They've had, like, 2 good seasons. Ever. Worse than being a jets fan.
Don't lose that Lions fan friend ever. Being a Jets fan who has a friend who's a Lions fan is like being a chick with a fat friend. She'll always make you feel better about yourself.
It's like watching an episode of CSI Miami, you know what's going to happen in the end but you just want to see how they get there.
The suffering endured by Jets fans should be more then enough to get us into heaven. Actually, they'd probably just drive us by the gates 3 times then drop us off in New England / hell.
IF you ever saw the Brooklyn Dodgers documentary the fans thought their one hard earned championship meant more than all of the Yankees victories. I can see us in that same situation. We've been tortured for years but when we get that ONE victory it'll mean so much more to us because we stuck through all the disappointments. All of the Gaytriots dynasty crap will pale in comparision to our one hard earned victory and we'd know that this is what we've suffered for. Put it this way. Is a game more exciting and satisfying when you win 10-0 or when you win a hard fought battleand give it your all and win 3-2? my .02
What kind of jackhole are you that you start posts about a moment in time when you were wasted and saying stupid sh*t like that? Wrongly thinking that it's a "pearl of wisdom"? It's a pearl of stupidity. Not all mentally disabled people have downs syndrome either, in fact it's relatively few. So now it makes even less sense. I don't know where you people come from.
Being a Jets fan is like waiting for a subway train that is perpetually late. With a homeless man pissing on your shoes.
