Since we're well into the 4th quarter and things will certainly start making their way into the main thread, let's focus on what you see as the positives or negatives from the game. Positives 1) Nudget, I only saw on kickoff but it was very deep, inside the 3- maybe he really did improve upon strength. 2) Harris- seems to be worthy of a 2nd round pick and definitely has a nose for the ball. 3) Revis- you wouldn't think that the guy missed as much TC as he did- on one or two plays his tackling left a little to be desired, but considering it was his first real action the guy definitely held his own. 4) Kenyon Coleman- some nice tackles tonight and he was certainly in the mix- nice pickup. Negatives 1) O Line 2) See #1- Listen, it doesn't matter if we have Brady or Peyton Manning back there- with the first team O it's only a matter of time before a QB gets killed. Pennington should just paint a big X on his head for our first game. Brick sucked again tonight, LG is a revolving door of suckiness, Mangold seemed to hold his own, I didn't see a false start from Moore which was a plus, and didn't notice anything good or bad by Clement. 3) Pennington- average, at best, and he simply cannot drive the team downfield when we need it most. Dinks and dunks are not going to land us a SB- I know, alot of blame rests on the OL but I just don't see Chad as being our guy for the longterm. 4) Outside of Coleman on the DL, I didn't see much of anything. Pouha sucks and I'm ready to throw him under the bus. Ellis was great in practice up until this point- why couldn't he bring that fire to the field? Let's hear it folks-
I'm happy to see that at least our D may be improving a little. Very disappointed with Mangini's treatment of our O-line position this offseason. I seriously think our offence will be worse than last year, because of that shitty line
The o-line is not going to support 8-8 against this years schedule. I've been resisting putting the Jets on the Disappointments list when I write it but it's getting harder and harder to feel like they have a real chance to compete this year.
It was funny, I normally don't watch the O-line that much (I rely on the people here who are far more proficient in reading O-lines than myself). I randomly decide to watch one play. Guess what happens? Bender gets embarrassed by Tuck on way to a Chad sack. I didn't need to be a genius to see that Bender gets a solid F for today.
I'm worried about Chad's future health. I heard they have better disability benefits than they used to. On the bright side, the team saved $1M by not giving it to Kendall four months ago.
Revis, Ware and Clemens were the positives. The OL was awful. Chad gets a total pass he was overwhelmed.
To soon to say that we had some young guys schooled tonight but I expect the line to get somewhat worked out.
Ditto as to Ware and all else, but Clemens threw a chit INT. Oh, lookee, inbred Eli is talking semi-tarded on the sideline in the Post-Game. Can this guy read? I mean, a greeting card?
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I also thought Clemens looked very sharp again, especially on his scoring drive with the 2 nice long throws. Negatives of course, chad looked horrible minus 1 throw, o-line was beyond horrible, no pass rush, and poor run D.
it looks really awful right now for the Jets lines...both of them really. I respect greatly Eric Mangini and what he did with this team last year, but I don't think any SuperBowl worthy coach can come onto a team and force it to play a scheme of defense that said team clearly does not have the players for. The 3-4 requires a huge NT that can free up the linebackers, big, run stopping ILB, plus this system totally wastes the talents of Vilma and Dewayne Robertson. The O Line is a f--king mess. What has happened to Ferguson? He looks about as bad as Bender right now, and he was picked 200 players before him. The whole Kendall thing was stupid, we should've given him a million more and he would have been happy on our line. 34 or not, this guy was our second best lineman. Think about it, this line is Clement, Moore, Mangold, ?, D'Brick.k That's AWFUL! How can we have a running game, even WITH T Jones? Sure, we all said this team was going nowhere last year, but really, I think it takes a miracle this year to get back to the playoffs. We need to adress BOTH lines, but especially the O-Line, next draft and offseason. I think the draft has to go like this: OG, NT, OT
Bust, huh? "I've Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts." Well, I've got two. That should cheer you at least a little. Yah, Danny Kaye, what do you all know?! The irony is even better. Read and learn... "I?ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts There they are all standing in a row Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head Give them a twist, a flick of the wrist That?s what the showman said I?ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts Every ball you throw will make me rich Roll a bowl a ball a Penny a pitch.." You can't friggin' script it.
This year, I thought it should have been NT, ILB, CB. But then that was before the Kendall thing and i thought D'Brick could have been a little better. Next year we really need to get both a NT and a OG in the first two rounds. Mabey we could trade our picks down, for one more in the third to get another O line? NT's and Oline usually go pretty late in the first.
I thought that is what we needed to do in this past draft, I am still shocked that we didn't address that. I can't believe we're talking about next year's draft already, everyone (including myself) seems to think we're in for a long season. Please Mike T, make a trade! We need some help.
