Haha..I'm glad we're chasing Cleveland and not Boston..Maybe they'll get eliminated in the first round if they aren't playing us..assuming we are even there.

Gagne has the highest WHIP out of those three guys, at 1.05.

The Rangers would receive right-hander Kason Gabbard and an additional player or players in the deal, sources say. Now we wait and see if he accepts the trade and whether Boston guarantees his bonuses. I guess one doesn't happen without the other.

Personally I'd rather trade away Pelfrey instead of Humber

Holy shit...We get a .221 slugger from the NL West and Boston gets Gagne and Dye...sounds even to me....oh, and we lose a reliever in the process too.

I dont usually put any weight in the notion of teams not wanting to help the Yanks b/c of who they are. But the Yanks declined offers involving Horne, Chamberlain, Hughes, Kennedy and Texas turns and trades him for Gabbard?

Yankee fans, do you realize that Cash and Torre have been carrying 13 pitchers this year.
many staffs carry 10, a few carry 11 if they keep situational reliever or if they are in the NL. I have never heard of an AL team having that many pitchers.
And even with that, torre still used the same ones over and over again. I posted in a different thread how the Yankees have 5 pitchers with over 40 appearances, no other team had more than 3.
I liked Proctor too but he has been very erratic mostly due to overuse I believe but I like this deal. Betimit> Cairo and he has found his groove as a PH lately.
This also leads us to see what some of the kids can do. If not Chamberlin than they can bring up Ramirez again.

Gagne's crazy if he chooses to sit in Texas for the rest of the year instead of guaranteeing himself a spot in the post season. He's a free agent after this year, instead of worrying about a few incentives, he can drive his value way up by doing his thing on the big stage.

All the years we had him and he never blew a save, we couldn't make the post season because we couldn't hit. Then when we got there there were no games to save. The only game we won was a CG by Jose Lima.

Yeah and Betemit will get just as much playing time as Cairo too...Chamberlain will be a max 1 inning pitcher, probably every other day. So who replaces Proctor? I guess it will be Karstens.

I haven't seen a lot of him but his numbers look good. My fear is he's always one pitch from falling apart again.

Maybe so but lets say its one of those days where Jorge DH's and Molina is playing.

Molina is due up with the tying or winning run on base. Who would you prefer up?
    Molina
    Cairo
    Betimit?

Giambi, Matusi and Damon have already been used.
Also from what I remember, betimit has some good speed as well so he will work well as a PR late in games when needed.
