you mean C Jarrod Saltalamacchia, SS Elvis Andrus, P Matt Harrison, and P Neftali Feliz for 1B Mark Teixeira and RHP Ron Mahay. Texas got a sick haul.
Royals general manager Dayton Moore, previously an executive with Atlanta, is intimately acquainted with the Braves' farm system.
According to Metsblog it might be Double-A C Drew Butera and Single-A OF Dustin Martin for Castillo I like the move if that is what we are giving up
Castillo's a good player. His walks are down a bit this year but with his average he'll still put up a respectable OBP even if it is with no power. This will also enable Willie to stop the merry go round in the #2 hole. Plus he's good defensively.
I'll admit I don't know how much of an upgrade Castillo is, but if that's the price, the trade is a steal.
Oh if that is the package then you can't go wrong. I thought when LTS mentioned Mulvey that he was part of the deal.. Good deal, now get someone for the pen..
Probably NY. Doing nothing still gets us Hughes and Giambi back this/next week. Probably Chamberlain and/or Karstens next week. Shores up the BP, starting pitching and may or may not add to the DH role.
Repeating myself from elsewhere on the interwebs. "Coincidentally, I've been tracking two prospects at a Mets forum, and those were the two. Butera plays outstanding defense behind the plate but has only shown brief moments of life standing next to it. He was putting together a good season at High-A St. Lucie before being promoted to AA Binghamton and falling into a slump. Martin doesn't have stand-out tools, but has hit very well in his 1+ seasons of pro ball. He was team MVP last year for Short Season A-Brooklyn and had been having a very respectable year at High-A St. Lucie." My biggest concern about the trade is actually Castillo's defense. Buncha Twins fans say he doesn't make any errors because he dogs it in the field and does try to make difficult plays. Would explain why his zone rating is second worst in the AL for second basemen. I'm hoping that moving away from the astroturf and into a pennant race would fix this.
http://www.kansascity.com/385/story/211348.html Please please please let this open to door to a Renteria-Garland trade. Please.
Doubtful there will be any more major trades after tonight with all the crap involved in physicals and looking over medical records these days. Really not enough time to do anything.
mets trade for castillo http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spmets0731,0,3739172.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines
Braves now looking into Bronson "Brandon" Arroyo's availablity. This is after giving up the top 3 prospects in the system for Teixeira and then Davies for Dotel.
Dumb, dumb, dumb. You keep finding ways to top yourself. If both teams do nothing, the only logical conclusion as to a winner is the team that has been firmly ahead all season.
Uhh..you really didn't say that, did you? Maybe you would like to rethink your stupidity for just once. Ok, I just thought about your take on this. I can see your side to it but the original question was who gets better by doing nothing, not who has the better team if both do nothing? We get four players back (well, 3 and add 1) and you get one. I still think the Yankees get more then Boston if both do nothing. We haven't had a complete team once this year and maybe now we will.
