Wow I love this move by the Brewers. Linebrink is a cheap commodity, I don't understand the move from the Padres perspective. Your in the race for the NL crown, why give a commodity like that to a direct competitor with no immediate help?
Not too bothered by this, though I honestly expect Milwaukee to keep going at their present rate, a little off their start. Even as a paranoid Cubs fan I have to make us favourites for the NL Central right now. As for acquisitions, the talk right now is of Livan Hernandez, Adam Dunn and Jermaine Dye. Junior Griffey and Dontrelle Willis seem to be outside bets.
Because they've got outstanding bullpen depth, but thin pitching throughout the lower levels of the organization. Linebrink had more value to them as trade bait.
Assuming there's no problem with Santana beyond having a bad year I like the Angels proposed offer alot better then the Braves.
The San Diego Padres acquired outfielder Scott Hairston from the Arizona Diamondbacks for minor league pitcher Leo Rosales on Friday.
I think Santana is very overrated. In my opinion, it all comes down to if Texas thinks that Salty can stay at C. If they don't, they are better off with the Angels (Kotchman) or Dodgers (Loney) IMO.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded 2B Jorge Cantu, minor league outfielder Shaun Cumberland and cash to the Cincinnati Reds for two minor league pitchers, RHP Calvin Medlock and LHP Brian Shackelford.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded Ty Wigginton to the Houston Astros for Dan Wheeler. Wheeler was 1-4 with a 5.07 ERA and 11 saves in 45 appearances for the Astros this season. Wigginton was batting .275 with 16 HR and 49 RBI for the Rays this season.
I don't think there will be any big trades since the Red Sox and Yankees are not going to trade their big 3 prospects.
