I'm gonna go out on a limb here. A guy as media savy as Strahan...and a guy as big as Strahan as far as star power.....he KNOWs that him not reporting and saying he is flirting with retirement is a HUGE national story. He loves attention. This is nothing about nothing. He just wants to see his name in the paper and he wants to scare the Giants a little. He has no intention of retiring, especially after having to give away half his money. He needs the extra cash.

    My $0.02

Maybe he is realizing that the Giants really don't have a realistic shot of getting it done this year without Tiki. With the injury problems he had last year he really has no reason to come back if injuries are bothering him.

As noted above, he has 4 million reasons to come back, and after getting cleaned out in his divorce, he needs them. Since I can't imagine that the Giants will give him an additional penny, the only thing I can think of is that he wants to avoid some two-a-days in the Albany heat.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that he has had multiple conversations with Giants defensive end Michael Strahan regarding his ongoing NFL career, and that Strahan has told him, "I don't know if the fire is there."

all Giants are headcases, even their old, sh*tty coach

His bogus sack record should be retired with him.

Just more proof that the giants are the softest Me, me, me team. From Tiki, Strahan and Shockey. This team was a bunch of whining and selfish babies. Talk a big game and don't do a thing on Sunday.

It sucks when you realize one of your favorite childhood players is a complete asshatted douche.

At least Jessie Armstead is still cool.

Strahan is coming in line pretty fast. A day after the Giants say they are fining him 14g's a day he calls the team. I guess he figured that if they don't rework his deal he would like the entire contract that he is due. He'll be in by weeks end, IMO. His call to the team was probably to ask that if he does come in that they don't fine him for the week he missed. This was just a ruse to get out of practicing for a week. The guy is tired of practicing after 14 years. Great player, and a good guy. I like Strahan even with all the shenanigans.

Giants should cut his stupid ass his play has declined anyway.

Declined? To an extent...But he is still one of the best all-around DE's in football, and loads better than Simeon Rice...

Isn't he still tied for the Giants' all-time sack record? No way I want him to break that one too. Let him play for another team :)

I am pretty sure he is getting dental work.

Even with the BS sack record he was an excellent player. However this sounded like a ploy that kind of blew up.

I hate the Giants. It's no wonder Coughlin hasn't been able to succeed with such a bunch of spoiled crybaby assholes like Plaxico, Eli, Tiki, Shockey, and Strahan. He's a no-nonsense type of coach, surrounded by a group of me-first, whiny douches that comprises 70% of the Giants roster.

I think this is just a ploy for more money. You'll see after the $14,000-a-day fines begin to pile up and the team talks about recouping more roster bonus and/or suspending Strahan for "Conduct Detrimental to the Team" that we'll find out if he's serious about retiring.

You can't talk about maybe a future Raider -Simeon Rice. Strahan did most of his damage going against a RT , while Simeon Rice did most of his damage going against LT. There is a reason LT, make more than RT.

I said ALL-AROUND. And RT's are usually bigger, and most teams run to the right side, and Strahan is great against the run.

Simeon is a great pass-rusher, no denying that...But against the run, he's below-average. He can't help in the run for anything, always over-running or just getting gobbled up.

Usually the elite pass rushers aren't that great playing the run. (D Freeney, J taylor, D Burgess, J abraham) . Strahan like Trevor Price(Raven - ex Bronco) those guys do excel against the run and theres a reason they play LDE.(go against the Rt) They have the bulk to hold up against massive RT in running game.
I Had a Choice of M strahan or simeon Rice. Im taking Rice. Even if hes just a situational pass rusher, guy a terror off the corner.
Like I said there is a chance that Simeon Rice will be joining W sapp in Oakland. Even though Raiders have alot of Pass rushing Des(Burgess, Huntley, Q Moses), you can never have enough. The Qb must go down and hard- Al Davis

Taylor is actually very good against the run, he's in good shape for 33 and strong against the run, him or Peppers the best DE's in the league...

You make it sound like Strahan has no speed at all, like he's JUST a run-stuffer. He can rush the passer very well, he does have the sack record* after all. He makes players next to him better! He surely makes Osi better, Simeon rarely did that. He was about himself, and he still is...But he is still a great pass-rusher.

Go ahead and take a situational pass-rusher like you said...I'll take a guy who can rush the passer and stop the run.
