I hope he didn't test positve for anything. Like T-Bird, I also met this kid last year and he graciously gave me his autograph on my now infamous Jets autograph ball. He was a real nice kid who was really into making the team.

Something major going on there, I'm afraid.

    I don't know.

I know, I posted it above.

I never said he was. Try to take a deep breath and relax... no sense getting postal. We're all wondering, that's all.

camp hasnt even started when he decided to leave the team. maybe he knew that they (nfl/jets) would find out about something that could get him and the jets in big trouble (roids/dog fighting etc) and then he decided to quit? why else would they delete this guys profile THAT fast. we havent even released him yet. i mean just look at the falcons, its a mess. im not saying that was the case because i think ced is a good guy and not a headcase, but who are you to say that nothing happened that probably could get us/him in trouble? yes, its not very likely, but its a possibility. we're all just speculating, thats what a message board is for.

He definitely was cut. The article on newyorkjets.com lists it as a transaction. Houston is gone folks.

The New York Jets announced the signing of free agent WR Chris Davis and also announced that RB Cedric Houston has left the team for personal reasons. Both announcements were made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Davis (5'10", 180) had 62 catches for 721 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 175 yards and one score in four seasons at Wake Forest. Since graduating in 2005, he spent portions of the past two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League, tallying nine catches for 83 yards before being released last month.

Houston (6'0", 220), a sixth-round selection (182nd overall) out of Tennessee by the Jets in 2005, rushed for 676 yards and seven touchdowns and gained 109 yards on 15 catches in two seasons with the Green & White.

Damn... I had high hopes for Houston. I know he didn't light things up last year but I was willing to give him one more preseason.

I don't see the word "cut" anywhere in that article, but what I do see is it says he left for personal reasons (twice:lol:)

What he wants to do with his life should be standing on the sidelines making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

It is amazing how at this time we automatically think the worse about someone... I am hoping that whatever it is he is ok.

Me too. I was looking forward to him being a second option on 3rd down. the guy could break tackles up the middle and looked hard to bring down , not before gaining 5+ yards.
He is hard not to like , quiet and gets on with the job.
Shame. Whatever has happened , I'll be sorry to see him go and wish him luck with whatever he decides to do.

No offense guys, but he wasn't all that good. I never liked the guy, and complained every time he played about him.

Leon has talent but is undersized, I can live with that. Cedric Houston was the best north south guy we had until Jones joined the fold. Now Houston is obsolete.

Again, as long as this has nothing to do with something like drugs or something stupid like that, I wish him the best of luck in life. He could have told the team he was considering quitting before this though. Now we need to find someone to be the backup.

But we're really not losing all that much with him gone.

Cedric was the guy to give TJ a breather and I thought to have a similar role as a one Lamont Jordan had. He had the ability to wear you down. Of course with good blocking. I think they lost depth at the position.
