Yeah, probably heroin, although it could also be meth I guess. He actually showed up to the show and was running around on stage at some point while CF was playing.

On a heavier note, Summer Slaughter comes to San Antonio Saturday night. \m/

So, funny enough, I've never gotten into Hypocrisy. I'm looking to pick up my first album by them though, and am looking for suggestions. Do I go with 'Osculum Obscenum', or 'Abducted'?

I am torn on which album I would suggest, because Abducted is my favorite Hypocrisy album, but I know people that were turned off when they made that album because they abandoned the satanic imagery for the alien invasion stuff, and also because the overall speed of the albums slowed down from that point on. It's hard for me to think of a song that makes me immediately want to head-bang more than Roswell, right there at the beginning when the main riff starts. SS is the man for playing that at his wedding.

I ended up going with Abducted.

Upon first listen, it's... alright. I think I probably would've been satisfied more with Osculum Obscenum, but I can get into this too. It's different than I expected, though, way different.

Osculum Obscenum is okay, but nothing special IMO. Decent Florida style death that doesn't really leave an impression. Abducted and Virus are my personal favorites. Avoid Catch 22 and The Arrival completely.

And like abyzmul said, I'm getting announced to "Roswell 47" at my wedding this Saturday. Shit this came quickly.

  8. Hypocrisy's first album...which happens to be more classic death metal than their other stuff is my favorite.(I forget the name of it)

I used to think of Hypocrisy as one of the few bands to ever successfully compromise their principles without compromising their quality of music and level of creativity. That changed once I heard The Arrival, but I still love their old stuff. Abducted was an album that it took me a long time to 'get', but once I got it, it quickly became one of my all-time favorite albums.

I think someone made that joke on page one of the first metal thread before the last crash. It was dumb then, too.

  12. I always found Pete Tangren to being kind of over the top, and also found their drumming very subpar, holding them back.

Tatgren was one of the people that made the band for me back then. Drumming, well, I have trouble finding a truly complete band anywhere, but I always thought Sz?ke did an adequate job.

Yeah, that was Buc then, too. Dude doesn't learn. Watch him make the same joke again in 5 months time.

  15. It's kind of like the same thing that is happening w/ Cannibal Corpse now. Paul Mazurkewicz doesnt appear able to play legit blast beats for long periods...and the rest of the band wants to continue to play faster and more technical...the result is very average music.

I also think, although corpsegrinder is a more talented vocalist, that Chris Barnes is alot more versatile....seems like corpsegrinder is only capable of 3-4 different vocal patterns and rythyms...making every album after bloodthirst sound exactly the same. However, w/ Barnes every albuim had a different feel, which is something that made the band special.

The newest hypocrisy album has Horgh (Immortal) on drums and it seems to really pick things up a bit.

I heard that Kill was actually a pretty good album. I haven't picked it up myself though... I only have the first four Corpse albums.

I thought Kill was pretty good. Not something I would listen to over and over but not bad either.

  19. Oh it isn't horrible at all...but it's not much different than Wretched Spawn, Gore Obsessed, or Bloodthirst... for a band w/ as much songwriting ability, talent and prestige as CC has...they should be making truly killer records..not going through the motions.
