Houshmandzadeh is not remotely in Coles class. He's had Carson Palmer throwing to him and Chad Johnson absorbing double-teams on the other side of the line and he still hasn't been able to put up numbers that put him in Coles class.

I think both the Bengals and the Jets are rebuilding teams. The difference is the Bengals have an absolute stud QB and we don't. Getting a top QB is still the toughest position to fill, having that position filled with absolutely stud QB is a huge leg up.

I think you should go look at the numbers they are in Coles class.

I've looked at the numbers. Houshmandzadeh was a nobody until Palmer showed up to throw to him and Johnson to line up wide opposite. Coles has never had a great receiver on the same team or a great QB throwing to him and he has put up those kind of numbers year after year.

Put Coles on the Bengals next season and he catches 100 passes for 1500 yards.

Agreed, Coles has definitely put up better numbers than TJ and has been a more consistent receiver over the years. Cothchery this coming year could very well have more yards than TJ as well.

WR ususally break out in their 3rd year, Coles had a mini break out his second year had two great years and 3 good years. TJ had two unspectacular years but was a solid young WR, his last 3 years his production is slightly better than Coles. The only 2 years Coles put up better numbers than TJ were 02 and 03. In 02 Pennington was a really good QB and Chrebet had his best season plus we had Martin. In 03 his only pro bowl year, he played in Steve Spurriers offense and had a ton of balls thrown his way. The last 3 years both TJ and Coles have almost identical catches and yards, TJ has more TD's. If Coles was playing alongside Chad Johnson, he would have less catches not more as Chad Johnson would be the No. 1 target. The No. 1 WR is usually that because he is the best and that usually translates into more balls thrown your way not less.

If TJ were on our team right now Coles would be our #3 receiver. Coles two productive years left at best and with the hits he takes going over the middle for Penningtons floaters he will prob not make it that long. The Bengals have three #1 Receivers. The ball has to be spread evenly among them all. Cotchery will emerge as our # 1 at some point. Coles is a product of his friendship with Chad.

In case you have not realized it you are dealing with fans who are most happy to finish 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th best etc, etc each & every year. In fact I think in this thread there is a poster that said I donot care about anything else but winning the AFCE. Now there is a fan thinking big right?

Another misguided jab at Pennington. How do you explain Al Toon's career being cut short when he had the rocket-armed O'Brien thowing to him over the middle? It happens in the NFL. Coles is a tough WR and to my knowledge has no history of concussions to this point.

Yeah champ, you're the only one here that wants to win the Super Bowl. Or maybe you're the only one who comes here crying about it every morning. You think you're in some way better than us because you cry the most? Give it a rest.

Who is crying actually for your post I think it is you & not me who is crying & yes the regular season is played to win the SB CHAMPIONSHIP. Anything else is 2nd best & appears for yours & others posts that you are willing to accept 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc, etc best. You to should step back & rethink why the regular season is played for instead of berating somebody whose position is totally different then yours. In MHO you fit perfectly into what I posted to 4th

O'brien was the King of throwing the get mu wr killed pass over the middle. Are you kidding me. He was no better than Chad when it came to that. Chad is the reason Chrebet had god knows how many concussions. They both S**ked!

You realize Brooks Bollinger threw Chrebet his last pass and he hit his head on the turf, right? You realize also that Chrebet had a few concussions before Pennington even became the Jets QB, right? But since you have this unreasonable hate for your own QB, you're now going to blame Chrebet's situation on him. Very classy.

I will leave Chrebet out of it but I will bring this up again when Coles gets carried off the field this year because he will definitely finish him off. You can see it coming. Sad but true.

Are you going to blame Coles getting hurt at the end of the Indy game on Chad too?

And for the record I was a huge Chad supporter when he first took over. Unfortunately I can not look at him through Green colored Jet glasses and I do not think he is the star that others on the board do. Compared to what he has to go against in this era of Afc Qb he does not have the skill in my opinion to get us where we need to be. And that is the Superbowl. He is mediocre and can not lead a Mediocre team to the promised land.

I think it is pretty clear at this point that this FOURTHANDLONG character is one of Champ's nephews, or some other twisted relation.

There are very few QB's who CAN lead a mediocre team to the Super Bowl. That's why it's called "team" as you usually need the whole team to work together. That's what Mangini is building here.

Lol.. Not at all. We just both don't like Chad and want to win. I have suffered through the 80's 90, and now with the Jets and I want to win. I do disagree with him about Vilma. I think he is good.
