San Diego is a formidable team and could easily go to the SB, even beat Indy and the Pats in the playoffs if all went well.

Cincy, on the other hand, has no chance of acheiving what their talent on paper would suggest. They are undisciplined, unprofessional thugs and will not acheive much at all, despite their talent.

San Diego-Lt, Drew Brees, Merriman and a defense ten times better than ours.
Cincy-Carson Palmer, TJ Houz and Chad Johnson. They have a punchers chance of actually doing something. They have the talent not the discipline.

What is your reasoning that the Jets are closer than Cincy or S/D

Cincy has a better Offense than us and S/D has a better Offense and Defense than us. What is there to argue about? Why do you think the Jets are better or as good as S/D or Cincy?

Because the Jets were 10-6 and Cincy was 8-8..

Did I mention 10 arrests in 1 year?

Fixed that for you.... although I would disagree that Rivers is a better QB than Pennington.

Lets see, maybe because Cinci were major underacheivers last year and haven't won a playoff game this century.

and maybe because SD flopped again in the playoffs and haven't won a playoff game this century. It doesn't help them any that they just hired the worst HC in the NFL..

No as hard as it is to imagine, Norv Turner is a worse HC than Herm..

The killer there is they let both coordinators take other jobs before firing Marty. So now everybody on the team has to get used to basically a whole new staff, offense, defense, etc.

That whole coaching change in SD was a complete debacle... if they implode and suck ass next year they will have deserved it.

And why is that a negative? The Chargers had the best team in football the last two years. They didn't make the playoffs two years ago and were bounced at home the last two times they did. The staff deserved to be fired.

The only reason that I thought we had a shot to make the playoffs last year, prior to the season was the subtraction of the coaching staff from the year before.

Fired after 14-2? The whole staff? I don't know. You can make the case that maybe Marty needed to go, especially since both coordinators were ready for head jobs. To lose all three isn't good for continuity. They didn't need an overhaul, probably just a slight change at the top. Certainly not Norv Turner.

The entire staff should have been fired the year before for not making the playoffs with the best talent in the game. The 14 and 2 was in spite of the staff.

How do you go 14-2 in spite of your staff? They have to get some credit. If you think they should be canned for one loss, you at least have to give them partial credit for going 14-2. 14-2? Fire them? I don't know what people expect.

They are a team that underachieved two years in a row and lost a home playoff game the year before that. Teams are built to win and if the staff can't get the team that's built to win over the hump the team will go into decline without meeting its objective. The Chargers have a small window with the current talent and they decided to unload a staff that had underachieved 3 years in a row.

They decided to unload Marty. The coordinators left on their own beforehand for head coaching jobs elsewhere. I'm sure if either guy thought he'd have a crack at coaching a 14-2 team they'd have stayed.

That's the trick isn't it, if you really want to unload the HC and promote someone on the staff. They may have screwed up by trying to hang Marty out to dry but they may not have cared and wanted to clean house? In the end getting rid of Marty was fine and the new guy gets to pick his staff.

If you owned a team that was playoff talented, why would you want Marty coaching that team. Marty is a great regular season HC and a terrible playoff coach. If you think the Chargers are a playoff team, which I do, Marty had to be fired. He is 200 and 126 regular season and 5 & 13 playoffs.

Ah here it is just as I expected you bringing up other LOSING teams to rationalize that it is OK for the NYJs to be 0-38 wow what a fan. You could have also added the Eagles/Cards/Lions & I am sure others to your losing list as well. Since you supposely do not root for other LOSING teams why care because the more they continue losing the theroy is it would be easier for us to win a SB?
