How may times did we get in scoring position and come away with nothing? What happened when Ne scored and chad had to throw the ball. What always happens. We got to see the back of Asante Samuel's jersey when he ran back one of his wounded ducks for a T/D. What about that Lateral play? You think the Pats would have moved so close to the line of scrimmage they could deflect a backwards lateral against any other Qb in Football. I don't think so! Why didn't chad the great check off when he saw how they were playing. Once again we have to have a perfect game to win. At what point does anyone say this guy has been around long enough to have to step up and bring his team back?
Umm...maybe because the Patriots are pretty good? Did you ever think about that? The only team that seems to beat them consistently anymore is the Colts after having beaten them three times in a row. Everyone else seems to have trouble against their defense, especially last year. Why not give the Pats some credit because they were the ones who noticed that play and made a great play on the ball. That is not the first time I've seen that type of pass knocked down and it won't be the last so it's not just because Chad is the QB.
Not to mention we were pretty far behind before that happened. It's not like that play cost us the game, I'd say giving up an 8 minute drive when the game was still close had more to do with it. But people who hate Chad will obsess on that one play and claim that decided the game. Whatever suits their argument, I guess.
I just realize the level of play that a team coming out of the Afc has to get to to make it to the superbowl and it is an unfortunate thing that Chad plays in a time where a mediocre Qb will not win the big one unless they have a Raven like Defense and we don't have that.
I suggest we see what we have in Clemens and if he falters it's back to the draft. What do you suggest?
That sounds good. I would imagine the coaching staff is already evaluating Clemmens, considering they drafted him and got rid of the other two QBs with NFL experience. I would also think--since their jobs depend on it--that they will go with whatever QB gives us a chance to win each game, whether it's Chad or Clemmens. Last year they determined it was Chad and they were right, so I'm going to trust their judgement again this year.
Chad gives us the best chance to win games and maybe not even that if Clemens gets some real game experience. Not a Championship. The reality of the situation is we play in a time where excellence is needed to come out of the afc not Good.
You can't win a championship unless you win games first and make the playoffs. From there any number of things can happen. So if Chad can get us there, which he's proven a few times he can, I see no reason why we can't win with him.
I will give you a few reasons. 1. The Patriots have a Coach who might be on the Lombardy Trophy with Vince one day. 2. The Patriots have a Qb who right now will be one of the 3 best Qb to ever play the game when it is said and done. He now has better Wr than he has had his whole career, A young stud Rb, Good O-line and a defense ten times better than ours. This Qb is in his prime 3. The Colts have a future Hof coach 4. The Colts have a Qb who will right now be considered one of the best 3 Qb to ever play the game when it is all said and done and he is throwing to one of the top 5 receivers to ever play the game. This Qb is in his prime. 5. The Chargers have a Rb that has to be looked at in A Historic Perspective with a Great young Qb and a Defense that has all time great potential. 6. The Bengals have a Qb that will prob be a Hof one day and might be mentioned with the top three one day. They have two receivers who awesome. Great talent but bad apples on the team. Still better upside than us. 7. The Ravens prob have the greatest Lb of all time that will never get his due because of a scandal and one of the best safties of all time on a defense that is an alltime great. 8. The ravens have a possible Hof Qb who has the defense Chad needs to have a shot at winning. 9. The Jags and Dolphins have Defenses that can make something happen. 10. The steelers will be back as much as I hate them. 11. The Broncos are a legit Sb contender What sane reason do I have to think that our Weak armed no mobility Qb with a mediocre ol and a mediocre defense has a chance to do anything. These are just the teams we have to beat in the Afc. Look inside your heart and use your head. We will not beat three of these teams to get to the Sb in the playoffs. Let Clemens see what he can do and get me somebody who can put us on the level of the big boys.!
Peyton Manning took until this point in his career to get the choke monkey off his back. Not to mention Dungy who also got the choke monkey off of his. Both very good player/coaches, but only recently really secured their place. Where did "Future Hall of Famer" Carson Palmer get the Bengals last year? Did they even make the playoffs? They self-destructed down the stretch. Still a very good team, and Palmer a very good QB - no doubt. But a beatable team. The Chargers have been a solid team. They should return again so long as the coaching change does not derail them and the QB continues to improve. Tough competition - but beatable team. Steve McNair sends his thanks for your confidence in his future induction to the HoF as well. The Ravens are a hot and cold team. Good one year, a bust the next. Tough team, but beatable. Jags & Dolphins? Other than the fact these two teams are from the same state i am not sure why you are even lumping them together. The Dolphins will be a minor annoyance to anyone. The Steelers could still prove to be tough, but I will believe it when I see it with Cowher out of the picture. The Broncos? A SB contender? LMAO... ok, you are on a roll now.
I'll point out also that with Chad at QB the Jets beat the Chargers in the playoffs on their own field, with his shoulder in need of surgery. That's the only reason we even made it to Pittsburgh so we could all argue about that game for 2-1/2 years.
A small handful of teams manage to hang on to the elite status, at least where the AFC is concerned, while much the rest of the conference continues to see its status quo fluctuate. Right now I would name the Pats, Colts and Chargers as the tops in the conference. After those 3 you have another 6-8 teams that are going to be tough teams, fighting for the right to play in the post season. Those 6-8 teams could be better or worse next year. It is all speculation at this point, but I do not see any reason to think that the Jets cannot compete for another shot at the playoffs. I wouldn't guarantee it, but it is plausible.
Has anyone noticed Chad seems to have a really weak arm? I wonder how long it takes him to rub one out. He must REALLY get PO'd when a male porn star's face appears at the wrong second. Probably sets him back 3 or 4 hours.
Haha that's what you're really concerned with? For all we know he's ambidextrous... Regarding D'Brick, I think he'll keep with it and gain the necessary weight needed to protect Chad's blind side. Granted he did have his "ups and downs" but he and Mangold never seemed to hit the "Bowl Game Wall" around week 12. PS - It's my first day in the Gang Green Message Board and I'm phucking pumped for Game 1 against NE
:drunk: Are you serious? Dungy is a HOF coach? Did you forget he failed to get it done in TB, then failed for several years in Indy? Gruden took a Dungy team and won the SB with it. As for Palmer...let's not get ahead of ourselves....that's what they said about Rick Mirer and Jeff George.
Another SB victory I think guarantees Dungy a seat at the table, but he has always fielded strong competitive teams. I see him making the cut to the HoF. It really isn't that far-fetched. You can easily make the argument that Gruden made it to the SB with Dungy's team, or that Dungy would have possibly made the SB the year he was replaced. He was right on the cusp of getting there at the time. Palmer is a lot closer to the HoF than either Mirer or George will ever be. A little unfair to dump in the company of those 2 losers.
My point was only that Mirer and George were both drawing raves their first couple of years in the league and were thought to be HOF contenders. Mirer was rated higher than Bledsoe and had a better rookie year, George was the golden boy that was to save Indianapolis and be the next Dan Marino. Today, they are "losers", but that is hindsight. I just think it's a little early to use Chris Palmer and HOF in the same sentence.
