WFAN is reporting that pete reported to minicamp, spoke with reporters and stated that because of his unhappiness with his contract, he would like to be released......hmy:
from Tom Rock's (Newsday) blog today... Kendall Wants Out By Tom Rock "Veteran guard Pete Kendall addressed the media after practice today and told reporters that he wants to be traded or released from his current Jets contract. He gave a timeline of events since the end of the season that Kendall said brought him and the team to this point. Kendall said it is too early to say whether he will attend training camp in July, but he did have reservations about coming in for this weekend's mandatory minicamp. He also said he was in attendance for some of the early OTAs, but quickly realized that the contract situation was not going to be resolved so he left. He said the bridge is "not entirely burned" but made it clear that he is not happy to be here. More later."
just tryin to contribute a little more and find relevant UTD info......i know its not a shocker, anything constructive or positive to add?
Trade him to Oakland, for a conditional 7th rounder. With their OL situation, and their QB situation his value will be nil by the end of the season. (imagine trying to play guard while Russell goes through his rookie campaign, trying to learn NOT to get happy feet) his value will be nil by the end of the season.
I think it would be best if they placed him on IR as soon as he gets a cut finger and refuse him any settlement.
hmm.., i think this has more into it, than you see at first. He doesn?t say: "Pay me or Trade/Release me!" he says: "Trade/Release me!" Maybe we should try to trade him, cuz i got a feeling, we?ll have much more trouble than this, if we force him to play. He knows how to play this game, ask the Cardinals.
No, that's about as constructive as I'll get on this topic. I'm just sick of hearing about him bitching that he's only making about 2 mil. this season and wants to make more after an average at best performance last season. Don't sign the f*ckin contract if you don't want to play with it
More from Leberfeld at Jets Confidential. What an a*hole Kendall is turning out to be.... http://jets.scout.com/2/651695.html Kendall blasts Jets By Dan Leberfeld Posted Jun 14, 2007 Q)You are here at the minicamp, but are you happy? Kendall: No, no. This situation has become a circus, and it really didn't have to be in my opinion. This goes back a long time. I tried to keep things under raps, and handle things professionally, and I don't think that has been recipricated. I think back to the Atlanta game in 2005, which was a bad game for everybody involved. The very next morning I got a phone call, and was asked to take a paycut. I thought that was entirely unprofessional. But we kept that under wraps. We actually gave them cap relieve three weeks later. I was taking needles in my back when they asked me to take a paycut. I think all parties went into last year with the understanding that is was a one year deal. Eric had serious reservations about keeping me on the team, but we are able to come to an agreement, and I think my play and my performance and my contribution warranted reconsideration. So I talked to my agent at the end of last year when I knew I had good film in the can. We talked around the Senior Bowl, and told them what we wanted to do. I would like to get a $1 million dollars more to get my contract back to the level it was when I signed it. I was told that they don't renegoiate contracts with three years left. I must have amnesia. We approached them that way, and said if it's not going to work out, let's have a good divorce. Let's keep it under the radar one way or the other.
i don?t think mangini is worring that much. He already has a Plan B and he?ll just sit back and watch till Camp.
I say we pay him. We have a good deal of cap space for this year, and its not like you can put unused cap space in one year towards the next years cap. Better to pay Kendall more than to let the room go to waste.
seriously, or just let him bicth for a year and then cut him next year. where his value is literaly 0.
Wait it out. Kendall's leverage is that our O line isn't the greatest. What we need is for another team to need Kendall enough that they are willing to part with a high enough pick or a decent trade.
His attitude should be 'The worst thing they can say is no and I still have my job'. I understand him looking for a merit raise but he can't can't expect it. He sounds like the JETS owe him for taking the pay cut. I can't imagine the FO promised to make it up to him. Sorry Pete. I thought maybe striving to go to the SB before you retire would be foremost in your mind. I guess we were wrong.
I like Kendall but this is what we have management for, to figure shit like this out. Hopefully we now have good management and they will do the right thing, whatever that is. If I knew what the right thing was I'd be management, but I don't and so I'm not.
