Does anyone but me find it funny that any analyst that paints us in a negative light "doesn't know what they're talking about" but as soon as we see an analyst that gives us positive reviews, that analyst is praised to no end?

I see it. The sad thing is there is no analyst that will get praised on the board because they all pick us to be mediocre at best. One or two might be wrong but if everyone says the same thing there is something to it!

No offense, but reality check my ass. I would take Pennington over Lossman in a heartbeat. The Bills have no offensive weapons to speak of other than a RB. The Dolpins lost a TE and WR in the offseason, and added a kick returner. Green is alright, not great. Both the Bills and Dolphins Olines are far worse than the Jets. Lossman and Green are going to get knocked around this year. While the Jets Oline is a work in progress as well and needs a lot of work. It does have a stud OC and LT that will protect the QB. Add to that Coles, the game planning of Schotty, the extension of Cotchery, and getting Jones, it is pretty clear that the Jets offense is ahead of the Bills and Dolphins.

Oh really? Last year every analyst said the Jets would suck and be picking in the top 5 of the draft again. The Jets made the playoffs last year, upgraded the defense and coaching staff, and added Jones. I by no means think that the Jets are going to the SB and I see the tougher schedule. But the team got better as a whole, so any "analyst" that says the Jets are "mediocre at best" are morons. Whether one says it or fifty.

Just like last season. We were supposed to be a 5 wine team.....at most.

Maybe we all bash the writers because they are wrong the vast majority of the time.

And one of the best young recievers in the league.

I would take Lossman or Green on our team over Pennington in a heartbeat. We can start calling Post and Fly patterns again to open up the whole field. Plus Loosman is not a sitting duck in the pocket. Everything does not have to be 100% Perfect on every play. Loosman played well the second half of last year! Green is Alright and not great and so is Pennington. Diff is Green can get the ball down the field! Jaws sees everything that you just pointed out regarding the Bills and the Phins and he would rather take the great Unknown over Chad Pennington leading the Jets. These teams have crappy lines and he still picks them over Chad. This is the general consensus around the league. Schotty and Mangini hide Chads glaring weaknesses against mediocre and bad teams. We have a real schedule on paper this year and they will not have that luxury.

    Let's see about that:
    2003: Pats 14-2
    Jets 6-10 (4th place)
    2004: Pats 14-2
    Jets 10-6 (2nd place)
    2005: Pats 10-6
    Jets 4-12 (4th place)
    2006: Pats 12-4
    Jets 10-6 (2nd place)

Do you really think the JETS were challenging the Pats very much in 2003 or 2005?

While I disagree with Jaws in this case, I still think he is a great football mind, and while I know it isn't saying much, the best ESPN has to offer.

    Jaworski is an a-- -o-e

Why is it that this team still doesn't get the credit we deserve? I don't understand.

Just responding to a general statement at the beginning of your post saying that second place is for losers. I gave you 4 cases where teams finished in second place and won the Super Bowl. Sorry my posting facts about NFL football got in the way of you flaming posters.

    A few points here:

    1. Jaws generally is a pro-Jets analyst. This is not even a close debate, he always sees things from our angle, so painting him as anti-Jets just doesn't work.

    2. To those who think that Chad is still clearly better than J.P. Losman: you didn't pay much attention last year. Losman at this point is clearly a middle of the pack AFC QB, like Chad, and he's only starting his 2nd season as the Bill's starting QB. He's where Brees was two years ago. Where he'll be next year, who knows, but the trend is upwards.

    3. Ronnie Brown is the best RB in the AFC East at the moment. He certainly has the best potential moving forward. He's playing behind a crappy line in Miami and has had some nagging injuries so the numbers have been depressed some but he's going to be very good if they get that stuff straightened out. It's the Fish of course so it's entirely possible they won't get it straightened out, but if they do he's a favorite to win a rushing title in the near future.

    4. It's amazing that Jaws somehow got the Jet's defense pegged second over Miami's when for the second year in a row the Fish allowed fewer points than the Jets. This despite playing a much stronger schedule.

I'm a big Jaworski fan and I'll concede that he hits and misses, but I'll never concede that he does not favor the Jets normally (as in the defensive prediction) when he does that.

At this moment at least on paper the so called "experts" think the Pats have made hugh leaps this off season where as we have made small leaps lenghting the gap between the Pats & us.

  20. But what's the sense in being mad over past mishaps? You do realize it's going to take time to GET to a level where we ARE potentially the best. Right now we are at least 2ndd best in a tough division. This is a PROCESS. I'm just trying to understand why you're upset about the fact that despite being in a major rebuilding process, our young core and quality coaching has allowed to be competitive and at least be in 2nd place.

No one is happy about BEING a 2nd place team. But that at this point is reality. I'm just not sure why it's worth being so upset over....this is something we shouldve come to grips w/ 2 years ago after Herm left. Be happy we're at least a playoff team at this stage. There is no quick fix in the NFL
