Guess what kids. Cam had Trent in college, and Schotty took his offense from Cam. As usual it will come down to will, and performance. Cam is a year behind Gang green in going for "good guys" (cutting McMichael) and his QB is the only one in the league more fargile than Chad (17 game starter). I predict 1 - 1, and games won in the trenches. Maybe Bowens steps in and smacks Trent for a carreer ender. either way, at least he won't have 30 dog carcasses in his yard.
I find one thing very ironic about the Patriots' Cinderella victory over The Greatest Show on Turf in 2001. The similarities between the Bledsoe/Brady situation in '01 and the Green/Warner situation in '99. Sure, Warner had a much better supporting cast than Brady did when he took over from his backup position, but he was also a much bigger Cinderella story than Brady was. I can only hope the parallels continue. With Green as well as Brady.
i think its funny (and a bit shocking) that nobody has even dared to dispute my chad comment....usually theres somebody who will come to pennys rescue....
All QBs are one hit from a career ending injury, it just takes the right hit and a bad circumstance. The thing the irked me most about the Chad injury to his shoulder cuff is that it didn't take a hit. He dove head-first and landed on his elbow in a play that he should have slid. He tore his own shoulder cuff.
I think Green is an upgrade to Daunte but then again Cleo Lemon would have ben an upgrade. If they get the Green fr a few years ago and if they get good OL play they should be in the thick of the WC race but if they get the Green from last year and continue to have OL problems and Brown doesn't stay healthy and prove he can carry the load for a full season and Chambers is inconsistent again then they'll be about where they were a year ago.
Cam did NOT have Trent Green in College, Trentlast played for IU in 1992 and Cam took over and failed as IU HC in 1997. he was at Michigan in 1992 as an ass't under Bo and I keep hearing how Green played in Cam's offense under Cam but Green was w/ Cam for 2 yars while Cam was the QBscoach in DC and Green neve took a snap while w/ Cam. His last 2 years in Miami they had little to no talent on that OL, he had alot of success in Miami and in previous stops. Dolphin fans began to use Wise as one of their whipping boys b/c he couldn't turn no talent into talent. They old us how bad our OL would be w/ him last year and it was pretty good considering we started 2 rookies while Miami's Ol has been bad the last 2 years w/o Wise. Maybe Wise wasn't the problem after all?
There is something about a 37 year old Qb with declining skills that just doesn't scare me in the least. I see the division shaping up pretty similar to last year with Buffalo being the wild card(by wild card I mean, I think they have a chance to be really good or they could be really bad again.) Patriots- will be in the 12 -14 win range Jets- 8-10 wins Bills- I could see the Bills winning as many as 10 games or as little as 5, they are a scarier team than the Phish IMO. Phish-4-6 wins, I think they are a team with really bad management right now and are on there way to being one of the laughingstock organizations in football..
This year is going to be reminiscent of the 2002 year, where every team is in it until the very end.... All of our records will be slightly less than what they should be, because those divisional games will take a lot out of us.... Hopefully we get the same result as 2002...
I am not even a little bit scared of the Phins or the Bills this season. The Bills lost too many guys on D to compete. Miami never addressed their O-line, which means that there will be few opportunities for their supposed playmakers like Trent Green, Ronnie Brown, and Chris Chambers to excel. Similar to Houston the last few years. And who is the #2 receiver after Chambers? I don't see him. And the defense is just getting older. They have that one young guy that Coles didn't know his name that's supposedly good. But, with Taylor, Thomas, and Porter anchoring that D (granted, in their prime, all great players), I see age being a problem for them. Then, there's the fact that the Jets have a great record against Miami since Marino left town. I'm really not scared. The Patriots - that's another story.
I very much agree on the Bills being scarier than the fish right now. They at least have a trio in place, even if a couple of them have to prove out to make it happen. I see the Patriots winning 11 or 12 games as some of the free agent decisions they made come back to haunt them. They're still a middle-aged team and so the injuries are the big x-factor for them. Jets could win as many as 11 but probably won't come close to that figure. I'm smelling 7 to 9 with their poor overall depth and lackluster lines being the main culprits. If the Jets had a mediocre coach right now they'd be in the middle of a 6-10, 5-11, 6-10 type rebuilding cycle based on their talent. The Bills lost a lot on defense to free agency but their offense looks to have picked up some with Losman finally rounding out into a good QB and Marshawn Lynch who I think is going to be the steal of the mid-first joining them. Lee Evans is just a great receiver already and looks to be getting better. I'm guessing 7 or 8 wins for them although as you point out their prospects are very volatile and they could come in 3 wins on either side of that. The Dolphins are still a rebuilding team in denial. The denial part is about the need to rebuild, even after 4-12 and 6-10 seasons in the last 3 years and no playoffs in a half decade. Last year it was Daunte Culpepper who was the sign of their denial, this year it's Trent Green. It's going to be a looooong season in Miami is my guess and I could easily see them bottoming out at 3-13. Cam Cameron is a boob and my guess is he's shown the door after 2008.
Dolphins; . Good/excellent Defense . Woefull Offense, with a half decent QB Sorry , whats there to be scared of?
Interesting article by Banks on SI. His take on Green: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/06/08/snaps/1.html
Like you said the thing with the Bils is they have a young QB with great skills who by the end of last year was really starting to show those skills. Add in Marshawn Lynch(I agree with your projection of him & think he is going to be a big time upgrade over McGahee) and a big time playmaker in Evans and they got the makings of a very scary offense if Losman continues to improve. I think they are probably another year away from being serious contenders but then again so are we, so does it really matter.. As for Cameron, I don't know how anyone could have any faith in him being the right man to turn around that franchise. From his horrible college HCing career to his horrible playcalling in the playoffs to his embarrasing intro of Ginn to the Miami faithful; he has disaster written all over him. I'm going to take it a step further and say he is shown the door after this season and Miami makes a run at Cowher.
ginn has a shot and could be a solid deep threat...with the speed he has itll be scary if he can learn to make the big catches in the NFL... as for porter, thomas and taylor...sure porter is old, but hes still pretty solid....thomas is still a very good LB, and taylor won def player of the year....he has yet to lose 1/5 of a step....age is not an issue with him....
