maybe its just me, but the dolphins could pose a bit of a threat in the division (not saying they could win it by a long shot) but they could def make some noise and cause some trouble if they can get some solid play from the QB position and some decent blocking. i mean, they werent god awful last year with harrington at the helm.....and green is certainly a step up from him.... what do you guys think? oh yeah, i almost forgot....:finssuck: :finssuck: :finssuck:
kowie the "k"oward...the jets will make much more noise than the phins. trent green is one hard hit away from calling it a career.
isnt chad also one big hit from the same ending? im just saying they improved the position markedly.....and that def makes them better.....
It's going to be a great year within the division.. It's up in the air this year.. I do agree with the Dolphins making some noise..
I thought the same thing. Not that they will make any run at the division, or wild card, but Green really helps their chances of giving them 1 W vs. US Whereas I think it's fairly safe to say we'd have definitely won both games prior to Green's arrival. The guy ain't no chump.
Green doesn't scare me in the least. He's learning a whole new system, the whole team is learning a new system, and he doesn't have much around him to begin with. Maybe by the end of the eyar they will start putting some games together, but by then it'll be over for them. I think 6-10.
No, not scarier at all. If anything this puts them another year away from finally finding Marino's replacement. Their offensive line is the worst in the division and their defensive line is all the wrong side of 30. 6-10. Maybe. Maybe much worse because Cam Cameron is definitely not the answer. The biggest belly laugh I've had in a long time is when he got up in front of the fin faithful and told them they'd drafted Ted Ginn's family. LOL.
They're weak in the 2 most important aspects of an NFL team; O-line and D-line. That won't cut it against the Pats or Jets.
Trent Green is the best QB they have had in years, but was he that good after his injury last season? Not to mention that he isn't getting younger.
Green's best days are behind him. He stunk last year after coming back after injury. A desperate move by a desperate team.
It's not the first time he's worked under Cameron, so it's not entirely a new system either. The first time Green worked with Cameron, and under his offensive system he threw for 3,441 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Not bad for his first year as an NFL starter. "Not having much around him to begin with" is an understatement and you know it. There's plenty on offense for Green to work with, but the O-Line has to give him time to do so.
I won't argue the O-Line, not that yours looks to be much better, but since when did our D-Line become weak?
Our OL has superior coaching and has 2 highly talented young building blocks in Mangold and Brick, something your Ol does not(Carey has a chance to be, but has yet to show it) As for your Dl, it is very talented, but the average age on your depth chart is like in the mid 30's. Roth is your only guy who looks to have production beyondthe next 2 years or so.
Actually Carey was great last year, and in my opinion has shown that he's going to be a great and versatile O-Lineman for years to come. I could argue the coaching bit, but it really doesn't matter. I will concede that your O-Line is better. Our D-Line, is by no means weak. That much should be clear.
green has now had the entire offseason to get healthy....he should be back to form....even at 85% hes the best theyve had snce marino. plus green and cameron have worked together before, so its not like hes hopping into bed with a total stranger...he knows whats expected of him, and the guy in charge will def be an asset to him. i guess im the only one who is at least abit worried with the fact tat mangold has been sitting out the OTAs with an unspecified back injury.... were talking this season, not projected. and with taylor and thomas still playing at pro bowl levels that makes the d still a worthy adversary. careys decent, ill give you that much....but im telling the jets fans, as a jets fan, dont sleep on the phins front 7..... ---------------- the phish will make some noise this year, and be in more games then they arent, and with a chance to win this time due to whos under center....:finssuck::finssuck::finssuck:
Honestly, Trent Green was a very good QB a couple of years ago. He's probably not a very good QB right now. Fiedler at 30 was better than Green will be at 37. I'm almost willing to guarantee that.
Kurt, I have to disagree on this one point: Tony Wise is superior to nobody. If there is any coach on this staff that I have less than zero confidence in it is him. His last 2 years with the fins that line was worse than many major college lines. Then he got fired. Seriously, this one hire is what made me skeptical of Mangini during his first few days/weeks as a new coach. I could not see how anyone could possibly see Wise as a coach they want teaching one of the most critical parts of a team. I just can not stand that hire. I for the life of me can not understand how a coach of arguably one of the worst offensive lines ever two years running can get another job in the NFL. It is beyond me that he is where he is and not working as a fluffer or something.. For instance I would have been a whole lot happier with Doug Marrone.
The Phins are gonna compete for last place in the division this year. They will probably have their annual "they shouldn't have won that game" game, but they will have a 7 or 8 game maximum of wins. I'll be in Miami again this year laughing as we beat the shit out of this poor sad team.
in no way shape or form am i saying they will contend for the div....but they will be much better....they have a solid, strong armed QB now, chambers and if ginn plays well in the slot or the #2 he gives green a home run guy.....the phins passing game is markedly better this year (on paper at least). they will be in a lot more games, and they will be out of less games due to this....if ronnie brown has a decent year they could be a pretty solid team. our div is a very good one this year....NE and the jets are the 2 best in the east, buff is good, and theyve improved themselves abit (even with the loss of willis) and the phish have made their major weakness better....should be a banner year in the east!
