These are really good points concerning Revis returning punts and therefore Dwight's diminished value, but I'm not so sure I'd discard a healthy Tim Dwight over McCareins. When Dwight was healthy he made some surprisingly good catches and he's got great speed. I've been burned enough seasons now, waiting for McCareins to show me the money, and every time the season starts he doesn't live up to expectations. I don't know what the hell it is, but whatever it is, he just doesn't have "it."

I still like the idea of getting something for McCareins (anything at this point) and moving on.

Who knows...maybe all the trade/cut talks lit a fire under his ass and inspired him to actually play some football.

Nope, the speed your talking about is long long gone. Dwight should be cut, hes washed up.

    we shall see

j-mac was a star when he had a mobile qb that could buy some time and then fire it down the field...chad pennington does NOT have those skill sets.the other 2 qb's on the jets roster, however, do have those skill sets.and those were the 2 that were brought in by the mangini regime ...gone are the days where players get cut before being thoroughly evaluated under all practical circumstances...translation :j-mac will be evaluated by how he executes with clemens, not by what he did with chad...i've watched all the games j-mac has played as a jet..he has been open ...chad was unable to reach him.on multiple occasions..now mangini is singing his praises a yr after he was berated for being out of shape and was the general whipping boy of mangini.it would make all the sense in the world to hold on to your best depp threat wr after aquiring a rb that will almost always demand 8 in the box.is that the winds of change i smell ??

Good story.... I've seen similar and I've been praising his Work ethic ever since - He's got a bad rap here by fans...... He's a real hard worker and he's unfortunately had nagging injuries to go with all the problems the Jets have had at QB and with Hackett.....

Then last year he has cramps and becomes Mangini's example for TC... But, I think that was taken out of context by fans and Mangini knows this guy is a hard worker.

    Another Great point.....

I think Jmac weakness is when the QB throws up that wobble pass that the WR has to wait on....

Chad is what he is..... But, I'd say if Jmac played with a QB who could lay it out there or hit him in stride we'd see a much different player..... We don't have that so Jmac has to make the best of it and tailor his game a bit - I just think if he stays healthy that's 90% of the battle and he'll make some plays.

But, Jmac was not out of shape last year - He had natural cramps withthe weather and failed a drill and then was made an example of.....

Yeah, that whole "example" thing puzzled me, knowing his work ethic and what I had seen of his workouts the previous TC.

It doesnt seem as thoe there are any takers for Mccarrens because he's still on the team . I once saw flashes of brillance from this Guy (in Tenn and JNY) but for some reason (Dropped pass) he didnt get the reps or the playing time. this guy's the x-factor ,he's the guy that can be a dependable pass reciever. If richie anderson can become a leading reciever;so can Mccarrens !(i dont mean that literllay) this year its all going to come together. he reminds me of Detrick Ward ,that guy would go game after game with nothing going on; and then blow up the spot and seem untouchable or in the right spot when needed . the kid can do it and I think he's only due league min!

We've been waiting long enough for this elusive breakout year of Justin McCareins. He started in a wideout-friendly system in Tennessee, then came to Camp Herm and showed what he could do with his athleticism in his first season here, but since then has been surpassed by Cotchery while both received the same coaching, while receiving Herm's preferential treatment of vets during which time a burgeoning young Cotch rode the pine. If he hasn't gotten it yet, I think it's safe to assume he isn't going to with the Jets. He may be getting a bit of a bad rap with the fans, but he's gotten nothing but chances with the team.

The Jets will be very active looking for help on both lines. The current cap space is not going to protect McCariens. The team feels they are over paying for him and that alone is going to cost him. The Jets will jump on an opportunity to sign a solid line man on either side of the ball once there are some cuts. Look for both McCariens and Kendall to get the axe or be part of a less than blockbuster trade.

Hey, Cotchery looks to be a GREAT talent.... There's no shame in getting passed up by him....

But, 2005 was a complete washout and he still had 700+ yards. In general we've been waiting for the Jets offense to take off at all between injuries and yeah, Jmac's had his own injuries......

In 3 seasons he had 700+, 700+ and then last year as the 3rd wr in the doghouse just as an example cuz he had leg cramps...

The guy IS talented and my statement from go was that we haven't seen him really take off yet - But, for that to happen Coles would have to get hurt and knowing Coles past and all, I'd love to have Jmac there just in case...

I say, If Coles goes down Jmac and Cotchery don't skip a beat.....

I think he will stay and maybe he will have a breakout year. The team is different and have more weapons which might helf JMAC. I will remain optimistic would love to see him step up this year.

I hope I'm wrong about my grading of JMac (A+ at practice and C- at game time), but I suppose anything's possible. I'll be going to camp again this year and watching him excel on the practice field, and then one can only hope...

Wait... so you're saying that Cotch (our #2 wideout) is such a talent that there's no shame in being getting buzzed by him on the talent ladder... but should our #1 wideout go down with injury, Jmac wouldn't miss a beat? Dude, I defended Jmac for 3 years straight, waiting for this 'diamond in the rough' to surface. I'm done with that, he showed us less in 2007 than he showed the Titans in 2003.

Before we acquired Jmac, he was an unknown #3 wideout who couldn't crack the starting lineup but showed a load of athletic ability and some raw abilities. And that's exactly what he is right freaking now, 3 years later. Pull the chain on this one already.
