Mark it down. The Mets would have no interest. The Mets aren't signing a superstar who had problems playing across town especially when they have young stars already firmly entrenched at A-Blow's positions (3B and SS). Why you would even think A-Blow to the Mets is a possibility is beyond me.
Maybe you are right. Don has been known to make a crazy remark before. I mean he already called K-Dice a bust in April.
He could play second base for the Mets... I wouldn't mind that. Hell, I'd let Mariano come over and be our set up man too if he wants.
This is a good point. That's why I'm not on here talking baseball, because I'm pretty much a Dodgers only kind of fan unless it's the last few weeks of a close race. I follow the NY teams just from having my eyes and ears open, so I'm up to date with basically what's up, but I don't have much to add to conversations here. When the Dodgers are off, like today, I tend to not watch baseball at all.
I don't understand people who only watch their team. I'll watch any game that's on, though NL games sometimes bore me. I'll still watch them, but I don't like them as much.
If I want to watch something and nothing else is on, there are games I'll watch. If the Cubs are at Wrigley during the day and I get a chance, I'll watch them. But I have zero interest in the AL except when the Yankees are about to lose. Or if someone is up that I like, like a Piazza or Beltre, for some team I could care less about, I'll stick with it for a batter or so. I was watching Eric Gagne pitch for Texas yesterday against the Red Sox, just to see how he looked. But as far as following a whole game or knowing everyone's lineup, etc, that's just not my thing. Just the Dodgers.
I agree to an extent...I'll watch the Braves if they're on TBS on a night, or even the Devil Rays if it's like a Kazmir/Ace matchup, sure. But i'm not going to watch a Casey Fossum/Sid Ponson matchup if that's the only baseball game on... Like last Saturday I watched Cubs/Dodgers because I like Carlos Zambrano, Soriano, Piniella, etc. I'll watch other games if the matchup is good, last night Carmona/Maroth wasn't horrible, but I went with it... I don't see the major problem with some fans ONLY wanting to watch their team...
Like 3rd said, your own team plays pretty much every day. So unless you're a baseball junkie, that ought to do it most of the time.
If you're talking about people that only follow their team and have no idea at what is going on around the rest of the league then I guess I can understand it. Personally though the 20ish hours a week of Mets baseball I watch is enough for me. That's not to say I won't keep tabs on or check out the box scores of other games but to actually sit down and watch them? No way.
I think that's how most of us feel...But their are those occasions where i'll watch another game in full...Like last night I was flipping between Detroit/Cleveland and Cleveland/Detroit.
It's not so much about watching other teams... it's about knowing what good baseball is and appreciating it. IMO Cabrera is speaking to the fans that don't see the beauty in anything other then their own team winning and winning big.
*ahem* Abreu has started hitting again, like I said. I think you're going to see a nice hot streak from him.
Why would you revive this thread? #1, he's not hitting all that great. And #2, he's giving up runs, and not scoring. That's not going to impress any of us.
he is hitting much better and hopefully getting back to normal, he still has defensive issues though that he needs to correct.
You can't even count the entire series in his favor. If he catches Ortiz's hit, it's PROBABLE that Mientkiewich never gets hurt, possible that no runs score that inning, so we might have won, and there is even the chance that had we took Saturday, we still played the same yesterday and swept. Bobby gets no love.
