these are fans of pathetic franchises that live their baseball lives just waiting for their chance to get at the yankees and their fans because lord knows they haven't had many chances. Kind of flatered by them actually.

  2. Yeah, I've pretty much gone off the deep end:breakdance:

Yeah, not analogous to last night's discussion.

Anyway, Yankess (not my typo) fans were too dumb to realize Martinez was complimenting the Yankess.

The poster you quoted was talking about the Red Sox and Mets, not the Devil Rays and Royals.

In all honesty, I think it's a perfectly legitimate question. Clemens should have been pitching this weekend, or at least scheduled to be pitching barring the injury.

Other than one bad inning, helped by an error, Beckett was quite good tonight. Hopefully the pen can hold it.

he chickened out. Roger was never a huge big game pitcher, and he didn't want to open in Boston.

Exactly my point. With all the money he's getting, he should have offered to pitch every game of the series, not begged out like it was the 86 Series.

    A comment beyond belief.

These are generally the same type of people- northeasterners. They generally act the same way. They all like seeing the other team(s) suck.

Yankees fans hardly throw around insults? C'mon now.

We're not comparing Rutgers football fans to Alabama football fans here or comparing Celtics fans to Lakers fans or comparing Eagles fans to Cowboys fans, I could go on and on- you get the point. We're talking about New Yorkers vs New Yorkers and New Englanders vs New Yorkers. Jeez, man.

going into that AB, Abreu was 0/11 vs. Lopez.

    It's official:

Bobby Abreu is back. All you Yankee fans that have been bashing him can now watch him rip.

In 14 League Championship series games, he is 5-4, 3.87 ERA. 81.1 innings, 70 hits, 37 runs, 71 Ks, with only 26 BBs.

    In 8 World Series games, he's 3-0, 2.37 ERA, 49.1 innings, 37 hits, 14 runs, 49 Ks, 12 BBs.

Cumulative postseason stats for his career:

    34 Games (33 starts.)
    12-8
    3.66 ERA
    196.2 innings
    169 hits
    84 runs (80 ER)
    172 Ks
    68 BBs

I'd say he's a pretty good big game pitcher. Perhaps you're thinking of Mussina.

We need to buy a footstool for the baseball forum so Kurt can get down off that high horse.

  17. Maybe I'm just not meant to be able to deal w/ being a baseball fan anymore. The constant hatred directed at the Yankees and their fans, combined w/ the obsessive sox fans in my area, have just made me go off the deep end.

Maybe you're right, maybe Yankees fans are as stupid and useless as you say. I dunno anymore.

All I know is, baseball was truthfully alot more enjoyable when the sox-yanks were battling for 3rd place in the Al east on a yearly basis, and the Mets were always trying to catch the Pirates.

Things have just gotten out of hand, in terms opf animosity.

Not at all. I'm speaking about Clemens. He's thrown some good big games, but he's spit the bit more than you'd expect from a guy of his caliber. 3.66 ERA?

He has not typically been his usual self in the playoffs, although he has thrown a few gems.

He's also had quite a few memorable meltdowns in the playoffs... Getting tossed vs Oakland, wussing out with a "blister" in 86, the "where is Roger" game I mentioned...
