Well lets look at it like this... 290 lbs.... 300 lbs, 315 lbs... as long as Chad isn't getting the shit sacked out of him from his blind side, thats all i care about. i wish i had the same problem D'Brick has, dude can't seem to gain weight... my jealousy is RAGING (i am down 15+ lbs tho)
It's one of the best homefield advantages in sports. The old Boston Garden really helped the Celtics for decades as they had experience playing in the extreme humidity and on the parquet floor that presented a unique visual and spatial challenge for ballhandlers. I'd say Mile High Stadium is probably in the same class in terms of the advantages it offers.
Another great homefield advantage was Minnesota's when they played outdoors. Vikings at Metropolitan Stadium, 1968-1981 75-26-2 (.738) I won't mention 1961-67 because the Vikings were an expansion team. Back then expansion teams were really hampered and it usually took a good 7 years or so to get going.
wow that's quite the comment without any meat to backup your statement. I'm a big fan of your postings, but where does this come from??
Any one who thinks the NFL players are this size naturally believes Lance Armstrong won all of those Tour's without using illegal tactics.
Once Goodell turns the crosshairs from legal issues to performance enhancers, things will certainly become more interesting.
I'm sorry, but that is a bullshit statement IMO. Leg strength is just as important, if not more important on the offensive line. Run blocking is all about leg drive and getting some forward momentum, and pass blocking is about good, quick hands/feet and not getting bullrushed back into your own QB. A good lineman starts from the bottom up I'll take a lineman with tree stump legs over a guy that can put up a bunch of reps on the bench any day of the week.
I agree that lower body strength is just as important, but Have you watched Brick closely? His legs are actually quite strong, and he has decent knee bend. Where he struggles is w/ inside moves/bull rushes, which relates directly to upper body strength.
Yea, I kinda generalized that response and took off with it....my bad Either way, I'm glad he's at least working on his legs
So true. I mean, alot of these guys are obviously freaks of nature, but anyone who belives its natural to be 300+ pounds of pure athletic is being naive. The NFL would look VERY different if they ever REALLY cracked down on steroids.
He just needs to stop eat subway sandwiches. Subway sandwiches are alot less filling than cheeseburgers.
Wow. The reason that they are linemen in the NFL is because they are much bigger than the average person, and they are great athletes as well. Most NFL players are the greatest athletes in the world, and excusing them of taking steroids is stupid. Their size is one of the main reasons why they dominate the average athlete.
Ron Yarry 255 Lbs Bob Brown 280 Lbs Dwight Stevenson 255 Lbs Dan Dierdorf 275 Lbs Forrest Greg 249 Lbs John Hanah 265 Lbs Larry Little 265 Lbs Anthony Munoz 278 Lbs Art Shell 265 Lbs Those are some very big men who are in the HOF and played in the 60's, 70's and 80's and into the 90's. The 30 to 50 lbs. jump in weight we have seen in 25 years is not throught better training, it's through better chemistry.
My son and I are both six feet. Grandparents (immigrants from Europe) on neither side were over 5 feet 9 inches. Are we both six feet due to chemistry or better nutrition? Edit. we don't do drugs, but take vitamins and have a balanced diet.
Wouldnt a training session in, say, the deserts around Phoenix be better preparation than running through snow? Iraq is not exactly famed for its icy weather. As for the OP, I dont see it as an issue at all, its just people trying to make a story out of nothing.
also, let's not forget that steroids have been around since the Steelers of the 1970s. Steroids are definitely aiding the Size Race now, but you know, some of these big fellas are just big fellas. Allow some of them to pack on 30 to 50 more pounds and they would. I guess the real question is: does Brick HAVE to be bigger in order to play against them? Will technique suffice? I tend to think that his deficiencies can be masked and that his benefits can be accentuated with smart scheming, so, in that regard, I'm pretty confident.
He doesn?t have to get bigger, he just needs to find a way to be able to contribute consitantly for the hole season. Getting bigger seems to be the best way to achive that but it might not be the only way.
Height is still probably genetics? It also could be the amount of hormones being feed to the cattle you and your son have been eating during your growth phases? Fat and size may well be do to hormones and other drugs that are routinely feed to the food we eat? That may not be cheating but it's still drug induced and I would bet the amount of blood doping in the off season and other techniques to improve oxygen flow and reduce lactic acid build up during work outs have a huge influence and while it's very hard to catch is still out right cheating having little to do with steroids. Hard to believe nutrition is any better than it was 20 years ago since the age expectancy is dropping and I suspect that has a lot to do with the hard increase in processed foods, hormones and anti biotics in food and vitamins that are being consumed to supplement the over all crappy quality of the food we eat.
I wouldn't worry about this. He'll be fine. Plus, the older he gets, he will have no problem being over 300 lbs.
