Swept by Anaheim as Boston sweeps Texas. 12.5 games outta 1st, all I can say is WOW. What a wreck. I will say I love having Brian Bruney... I don't even know where to start, I can honestly say i'm just at a loss of words. The yelling and bitching i've done on these overpaid bums takes its toll, and at this point I don't know what else to say. This is really going to be a shitty season, i'm stunned to say it. Designate Farnsworth and Vizcaino.
i'm pretty sure that we can't designate either of them. try trading Farnsy, and put Vizcaino on the DL (I'm convinced he's injured)
You can designate anyone, remember the whole Manny on waivers shit? I don't care the hit they take. Those two are some of the worst relievers in baseball. They disgrace the pinstripes when they put their uniforms on.
The season's over for us. Trade away the expensive dead wood, start the young pitching prospects for the rest of the year, and start looking at the radar for potential bullpen and hitting help in FA for next season. Give the sox another ring. It simply is just their year. Every single bounce has gone their way( see the horrid Rangers defense through the entire series), aside from Beckett's injury. It's sickening and frustrating, but if we come to grips now...it wont hurt quite as bad come October.
It can't happen. Cashman knows he'd be finished if he started shaving off salary when it was his year to "prove it" to everyone since he had control of the team. Cashman simply failed, that's it. But since i'm pretty sure he's in the final year of his contract, it doesn't matter either way what he does, because he's done regardless. But he's going to hang onto this team and he has to think the Yanks will improve over the summer... Thing is, they won't.
Not enough to the point where they'd make the postseason. The Yanks are an 85 win team, that's pathetic.
it'll be hard to make the playoffs, sure, but I definitely think they'll improve. If they don't make the playoffs in the end, it doesn't mean they didn't improve (which is what you said).
Okay, if improving means being a few games over .500, then i'm jumping for joy. That's a horrible way to look at things from a Yankees fans perspective, "Let's improve to be over .500." How much worse can it get?
just pointing out that they're very low, and it can't really get worse. that's my point. they're playing .438 baseball right now. Sure, maybe they'll only win 85 games and finish out of the wildcard, but it's something. abreu has to start playing better. same for mussina.
He will bat no higher than .245 this year, and that's actually giving him a nice streak considering he is hitting .233. Moose could pitch better, sure. He's good one day, great one day, bad a few starts, then good, then bad...He's inconsistent so far, but I don't see him being that much better than what he is, but he will improve. Abreu? No chance at all.
for this team to not make the playoffs is unacceptable. Not with the names on this team. It would be an embarrassment.
I know people think he's dogging it, but look at his track record. How can you say he won't get better? Players seek the water mark. He's a .280-.300 hitter with a .410-.420 OBP. The numbers will begin to creep up. While the year won't look good in the end, I'm confident that his OBP will go up 30+ points. Does that mean he's playing better? That's for you to decide.
