lol its more than valid. im not a chad basher but the guy cant throw a truly impressive ball past 30 yards, and even 30 is considered a bomb by his standards. i love how everyone brings up the chargers game and the 65 yard moss pass as if hes the same player. then again chads ineffectiveness on the deep ball shouldnt be an excuse for mccareins blowing so much mangini has been looking to move him since he took over. either way, i can live with chad for now. but i look forward to seeing a qb in green and white who can open up our run game and overall offense with a deep ball. but lets not turn this into another chad bashfest, even though I'm ready for another qb I refuse to believe the only reason McCareins is on the fringe is because of chad.
Chad had a beautiful hookup with McCareins for a 40 yd td last year that went the distance in the air. He CAN throw deep. It's the out patterns where his lack of zip comes into play. Also, Chad's accuracy on deep balls is pretty high, but I think it's more because he doesn't throw that many.
Great point.... I think McCareins has a lot more to show and between the Hackett offense and injuries he just never got on track.... He also took a bum rap last year and was the fall guy and example for Mangini's regime... Overall before that he was considered a good soldier and a hard worker.
I would expect him to be better than that player - He was injured when he threw that ball - This is the 1st season in forever that he's healthy and not learning a new offense. I'd expect to see a better deep ball this year.
I hate to beat a dead horse but Penningtons main weakness is not the deep ball. He throws an OK deep ball. It's zipping the ball into tight spots and hitting the medium to deep out patterns where he is completely lacking as an NFL QB. This is why he has trouble coming from behind. His game is to pick his spots and hit the safe open receiver. QB's with an NFL arm can take more chances and force the ball into tight spots when they absolutely have to move the chains. Chad knows damn well he cannot do this and rather than be a jackass and try and force it anyway he plays it smart.
Moulds to become a Titan? Thursday, May 24, 2007 1:04 pm EDT The Tennessee Titans will consider bringing in former Houston wide receiver Eric Moulds, though some personnel men around the league believe he has little left to offer. Houston released Moulds last winter, after a season in which he caught 57 passes for 557 yards. Tennessee also could reopen trade talks it had this spring regarding former Titans wide receiver Justin McCareins, whom the New York Jets have been open to trading
I was rooting for Mcarrens to show up last year. All of our recievers are shorties ,Coles is listed @ 6 ft. or 6-1 but barely. People think im crazy when I mention a good reciever like Joe jeravisuous or any one above 6-1 to be our possesion reciever. Probally we will pick someone up during the june 1st cut downs?
lets get rid of depth at a position, and fill it with an undrafted FA or 7th rounder... Wow... just wow
My only gripe with McCareins is that he seems to lack that extra gear once he gets past the D Back. Too often I've seen Chad throw a decent deep ball to have it land just out of McCareins hands and McCareins doesn't seem to be running flat out. Sometimes he seems to be slowing or pulling up. I don't think that he's a deep threat but he does run a decent if not spectacular intermediate route. Unfortunately, that is Chads weak point but, unless somebody steps up BIG TIME during training camp, I really don't see us getting rid of him.
