The only thing Miller really has going for him right now is that he has some real value to the team. Carroll was a flop on his second team and was probably going to get cut in training camp if he didn't win the CB job outright.

Disciplinary action would be well and good if this kid didn't have a disposition to continue with such behavior.

As far as game changing kick returners go, I'm not sold. Jerricho Cotchery had some kick return TD's for us. Chad Morton made a fortune. I'm fairly certain that it has more to do with Westhoff than it does with Miller, though he is a talent.

That said, you have to lay down the law. This kid is a moron, and I do'nt think he's long for this team anyway if he flashes the same inability to beat out a 5-6 seventh rounder and a bunch of journeymen.

What makes me nervous about the new policy is that it potentially allows unscupulous law enforcement officers to really slam african american players if they choose.

There are still places in the south where "lock em all up" is the unofficial law enforcement policy when it comes to issues of race.

Obviously we're not talking most of the players who get arrested but there will be players pulled over for DWB in a Mercedes and sooner or later somebody is going to get something planted on them.

There is a real issue with Miller's personality and wisdom. Not sure how you handle that. Parcells used to give those guys a bit of rope and then cut em as soon as their contributions dwindled to the point they were a drag on the team.

Sorry, I don't buy into this at all- the "racial targeting" theory is just absurd.

The players arrested in recent months didn't just get locked up for the hell of it- they were in a less than favorable situation and now have to face the consequences of their actions.

Cotchery has a home in NC- home to a few redneck cops I am sure. He's pretty much the reverse of everything which is Justin Miller. Do you really think he's got to be looking over his shoulder now because Bubba the cop has a real hardon for arresting NFL talent?

If anything, cops will be MORE SURE THAN EVER that when the arrest someone and he is arraigned (when the DA files formal charges) that every T is crossed and every i is dotted, because that arrest will now be scrutinized by the legal community at large, the media and the fans.

The problem isnt the policy its socio economics. We should be worrying less about rich blacks getting profiled and more about the poor.

And what the cop does and whats on the report are always two different things. ANd what you mentioned has been going on for years.

Either way cant blame Goodell, hes trying to clean up the leagues image ala David Stern.

i dont want to get off on a rant here....BUT....

first things first...the NBA and the image its players put out is far from a posative one, and has made me turn away from a sport i used to be as rabbid about as football. i have no issues with the balck community as a whole, and im far from racist...but there are more stephen jacksons than tim duncans in todays NBA...and thats what makes me sick. years ago when there were real superstars, they acted like superstars, and when one of them got into trouble it was a shock. not any longer...

with that said, the whole DWB thing....while there is NO doubt that it happens, but there are more than a few folks who pull that card without fail, and who get that problem due to the company they keep. when you see a lexus/benz/bmw riding down lyons ave or avon ave in newark its no secret if theres a young black male in the drivers seat how he got there. i wouldnt care what color the guy was that was driving....its the cops duty to pull that guy over and find out whats going on.

am i saying racial/ethnic profiling is a good thing....not always. but when were at the airport, instead of pulling millie-a 75 year old black woman....take ahmed and abdul out of line and check them out. sometimes its necessary to do what actually needs to be done than worry about someones feelings.

Miller will be suspended by the league and or the Jets you can bet the bank on this. Miller also has now been installed permanently in Mangini's dog house!
Except for his Kick returns he brings little to the table as a cornerback. He has always had problems reading his assignments. Miller is on a very short leash and could be out of a job very shortly.

Hopefully, we won't need to field many kick returns this year except the obvious one per game.

ya know our staff will not tolerate this. they will evaluate him and how remorseful he is to the fullest. i wouldnt be surprised if the jets organization and not the commisioner himself hand miller a suspension. at best, they will let this go as his one off field error but make sure he understands he needs to redeem himself. what a dumbass.

It's possible that's true. It's undeniable however that young african and hispanic americans get pulled over for DWB when they're in a $50k car. Young white or asian americans rarely have that experience.

When the Justice Department finally unwound that car impound ring in South Carolina they found that the victims had overwhelmingly been non-white with out of state plates. The police officers in on the ring were all white.

For those that didn't follow the story in the mid 90's, there was a ring of state and local troopers in a 40-odd mile stretch of South Carolina that was pulling over people in expensive cars and planting enough drugs to trigger the auto-impound law. They'd sell the cars at auction very quickly after frightening the victims into taking a misdemeanor plea bargain (as opposed to the 10 year sentence that awaited them if found guilty of the drug offense.)

The Justice Department finally got interested in the case when a junior lawyer in the department was pulled over and subjected to the treatment. He let the process run through, losing his car in the process, and then arranged a Justice Department sting. There are 15 bubbas doing 5-20 year sentences as a result. Part of the plea bargain for the first people they rolled was describing the gang's tactics. They explicitly included minorities as the main target on the theory that they'd roll over to "law enforcement" quicker.

IMO , If there's a guy ready to fight and either the girl or guy attacks me screw that, I'm swingin.

Funny thing is that I picture Miller running afterwards and the Cops doing 75mph to catch him in the car

Let's wait til all the facts are out because I remember just a few years ago when a few JETS Linemen got into it everything was fine and dandy.

I'll keep my word on the not posting thing.

However, I've been around the internet block just a few times.. I know that I won't get paid. I won't bet $ on the internet.. I will keep my word about not posting if he's suspended, appeals and the appeal doesn't remove the suspension..
