i am predicting that leonard peters will start over coleman this season. for some reason i just love the kid. i dont understand why he wasnt a day one pick. i would have him start over smith. idk why everyone is so impressed with smith he really didnt do that much so yeah i think peters may get the nod over coleman this season

Because maybe I'm faster than Peters? I hope the kid makes it, but he can't just truck people in the NFL like he did in the WAC, he better wrap. Plus, he'll always be out of position due to awful speed.

People like him becuase he looks like Polamalu, and Reggie Bush mentioned that #42 from Hawaii can hit pretty hard. Other than that.... I have no idea.

And because his highlight reel film involves him drilling many ballcarriers. And that he's Polynesian like Polamalu and he does a dance. That's why.

  6. Since we didn't6get Brian Leonard....Leonard Peters is gonna hafta do as the new random player obsession

    He's quoting a CBS article.

I agree that Smith is next in line.

I really dont know how I feel about this. All we've seen are highlight reels. The guy is notorious for getting injured. While I think he'll make a great addition to the team I feel like he's going to be a situational "in the box" type of safety. Sure he can hit hard but I dont know if his WAC hard hits will translate into NFL hard hits if you get my drift...

We'll see but a URFA walk-on to beat out a starter is a long shot as your title states. Especially when Peters got reemed out for missing a tackle and then not following through with the play out of frustration... I dunno.

Oh, and saying that Coleman is one of the best safeties in the NFL is a vast overstatement.

i think peters will make the team as a ST but to say smith wasnt impressive in his playing time is stupid. and I say that as a fact. If you want to give kudos for key plays, I remember in the game we won against the Pats. Smith came out of his zone coverage responsibilities, and came across a perfect Brady deep pass which the only thing seperating that ball from the recievers were Smiths hands in which he perfectly timed a break up.

not to mention the guy made two very impressive picks in very marginal time.

i think peters makes the team. but i dunno why everyone counts coleman out, he had one bad sophmore slump and if not for kerry rhodes breakout season we wouldnt be labeling colemans 3rd as a failure.

the battle at SS this year will be an interesting one. since Coleman proved his rookie year hes no shmuck. Eric Smith showed ALOT of potential, and the staff seems to be high on Peters.

but I think its really going to be a two horse race between Coleman and Smith.

I think that Steffes kid from North Dakota State is going to beat out Thomas Jones for the starting running back spot....and the Jets will cut Dbrick because they'll love what they see from Bender and Blanton in mini-camp

Exactly the way I see it Coach....

  20. Peters will be competing w/ Rashad Washington for the 4th and final safety spot. It will come down to who is better on special teams.
