I like Milledge, I watched him win a State Championship in baseball when he played here at Legends Field in high school... Given the current climate, and the supposed successes of Carlos Gomez and Fernando Martinez, I would not be surprised if this clinches Milledge's trip out of town. I'm sure that Omar isn't too happy about this story, as it could hurt his trade value. Anyone who thinks that this is just a guy enjoying rap music is IMO kidding themselves. Professional sports leagues are very concerned about image, and this is not the one that major league baseball is looking for. The fact that baseball has a fan base that is less black than the NBA and NFL only exacerbates that point.

Unless there are pretty serious questions about his baseball skills, I don't see how it makes sense to trade him. He wasn't great when he was up last year but all these "problems" he's had amount to petty bullshit and I hope the Mets wouldn't give away a talented guy for just that reason. If Milledge is a player the Mets fans are going to like him even if he's throwing up gang signs to people in the outfield. How is lidle a jerk? He wasnt performing stunts or anything in the middle of manhattan he experienced difficulties with his plane.
