the cuts are comming on the first of June, and was thinking of guys that wont be on the roster, and who we might target and at what positions....i dont see us cutting JMac since we really dont have a lot of depth at the position...unless someone gets axed from another team that could better us. im not sure who is gonna be on the block when the day rolls by, and i know some of you guys have a pinash for solid guesswork when it comes to this stuff. i was wondering what some of the opinions are, and whats been said about the cuts... i know this post is less informative than the topic would suggest, im just kind of looking for some info from you guys....thanks.
caolina cut keyshawn today....since we are a bit thin at WR, id like to see KJ come back and finish out with the Jets....he started here and imo he should finish here. fingers crossed....
Remember, with the new CBA, teams do not need to wait until June 1st to get the benefit of a June 1 cut... so I bet there is not that much activity.
You people do realize Barrett is better than Miller in coverage right? There is way to much talk on this board about cutting Barrett.
You do realize being better than Miller in coverage doesn't say much about your skills? There is much talk on this board about cutting Barrett, and rightfully so with his fat contract that we'd save from cutting him, and also because he's coming off surgery - perfect formula.
I think(hope?) we will be more active considering all our needs werent met by the draft Jmac is gone, I will be surprised if he stays past June 2nd, KJ is definetly someone we should target because we need a BIG target for Pennington Also we are going to have to get some DL help, any big NT or DLineman would suffice... Others on the cut/trade list: Barton, Barrett, Drew Coleman
Sign keyshawn, and then whatever O-lineman get cut. I am sure we will see some 34-36 year old decent olineman that get cut because of the cap. Sign then for just this season and maybe next, then draft a few guards in the 08 draft.
for the offense it would be, the nervous offensive lineman, that complaining running back, and....hmmmm dont know.
That's like saying, "You do realize that Baker is a better TE than Dearth, right?" Neither Dearth nor Miller are still on this team because they are good at their respective positions. They are there because they are ST specialists.
barrets looking at around 3.5 mil against the cap....barton is around the same. without any restructuring they are both cap casualties. as far as the new CBA rule, it limits the # of guys you can cut prior to 6/1, so i wouldnt think for a sec that the activity will reduce drastically.
i hope barton stays, one way or the other i think he adds something to the team. aside from the fact his presence gives us some nice depth at the position.
