Would be a very good pickup. His hands have always been great and he's never been one to shy away from contact going over the middle. Also, he's a veteran who has won big games(playoffs, super bowl) and knows what it takes to get there. Besides he's one guy I'd love to have when we go up to Foxboro because nothing intimidates him and he thrives in that type of setting.
It is when you consider relative perceived value at the time of the signings...Bonilla was at the top of his game when he was signed to that monster 5 mil per year contract regardless of how well he performed for the mets...Tartabull was the Yankees answer to that signing...a lesser player.
Coles and Cotch are not really "possession" guys. Both are quick and can stretch the field, and both thrive running after the catch. They are both prototype "west coast offense" receivers. Keyshawn would give Chad a big target to hit, not only in the redzone, but even for a first down. If Key was lined up on every 3rd down play last year, we'd have had 20+ more first downs. Granted he was younger, but Key made Ray Lucas look like a NFL QB, and hands down was the MVP of the team when we made the AFC championship game. So that was 9 years ago, but Keyshawn can still play. He is still fearless, still has great hands, and is still one of the best blocking WR's in the game. Has he lost a step? Sure, but he was never a speedster anyways. At this stage in his career he'd be the perfect guy to line up in the slot against 5'10 nickle backs and exploit them. Sadly, I think he'll sign with San Diego. They need WR help and Key said he wants to go to a team with a shot at the Superbowl. We'll be a dark horse this and next year, but San Diego is a favorite, and it's close to where he played his college ball and invests in tons of charity work. I think we're probably #2 on his list.
The guy is a winner and name a WR that blocks as well as him. It can't be done. If he comes cheaply and wants to be a JET, sign him-forthwith!
This would be a very good fit. A big upgrade over JMac. Keyshawn can be a very nice contributor. I like it.
He could work, but only for the right money. You would think he would like to come back to NY to finish his career where it started, on a good note, not the way he left.
They could bring him in to be an imediate upgrade over JMac, maybe even make him step it up to compete for the poss. Coles is set in his ways, but he could also help B.smith, and the rook C.Stuckey. Hell maybe even teach Cotchery a thing or two. I say yup-yup. "Go Get Him".
Yeah right, I would welcome Key with open arms without any hesitation. That 3-WR set of Coles-Cotch-Key would be VERY formidable and give Chad another security blanket on 3rd down and have a huge target. Sign me up on bringing back Keyshawn.
I was getting excited about the chance last season for him to return...I would LOVE for him to come back... Davecrazy must be going nuts that he is an option!
i heard on sports center that hes already heard from the phins...i know it sucks, but thats what they said, but hey you never know.
I wonder if Tangini is/would really consider getting Keyshawn. Even though I honestly don't think J-Mac is all that bad, I'm guessing he is going to be released. So, if that happens, it wouldn't hurt to pick up Keyshawn for the similar price that J-Mac was getting paid.
