I love the fact that there was a thread started to discuss a 7th round pick..... can we discuss mr irrelevant later too
His junior year, when he was All-ACC, Charlie Whitehurst was Clemson's QB...and he was a pretty good college QB. But his senior year, Will Proctor took over and he did a pretty bad job running Clemson's offense. Stuckey also broke his foot his senior year, so his stats dropped off. He had some pretty damn good games his senior year though: vs. Boston College - 11 catches for 124 yards vs. LA Tech - 4 catches for 100 yards 1 TD vs. Maryland (2nd game back off of his broken foot) - 8 catches for 129 yards Stuckey averaged 14.0 yards per catch
Good point about Proctor being terrible because it's very true that he's terrible. Very happy about this pick, as he's a Brad Smith-type.
The Jets drafted this??? I'm j/k he's a steal compared to some of the magazines I had(one had him as a 2-3 round pick)
I love the fact that the thread about the 7th round pick is on the 3rd page within minutes. Stuckey seems like a steal this late...No downside here.
I am also a South Carolina Gamecocks fan.........He is a damn good player.....I Hate Clemson and he was one of those thorns in your side kinda players......the ones that just seem to make the big play when the game is on the line.......legit shot to be a very good slot wr for us for years and I really believe that Check this out: Compares To: Deion Branch, Seattle -- Both players rely on their exceptional speed to gain an instant advantage over a lethargic defender … Stuckey runs with a short pitter-patter style that lets him get a clean release with excellent explosion … He has been slow to recover from his broken foot suffered in 2006, resulting in mediocre performances during postseason action, but could be a nice second-day draft find, as he ranked with the elite at this position before his injury … Doctors expect him to be fully recovered by 2007 training camp. People saying just a 7th rounder.....cannon fodder etc are ignorant as hell
   Yeah, he didn't have the strenght to run threw some shoe string tackles..... alot of those looked like TD's if he did. We will see if he is a burner or not.
Well at least we know who the idiots on this board are... "name a heralded WR drafted in the 7th round..." besides the fact that Colston comes to mind, can we remember that one of the more celebrated players in franchise history (Chrebet) was undrafted? Additionally, there's a guy who also wasn't selected by any team with any pick yet still managed to put together a Hall of Fame career; you might have heard of him. Plays for the Broncos, goes by the name of Rod Smith... anyone?
Of course there are exceptions. Of course there have been great 6th rounders, 7th rounders, and UDFAs. But that is not the rule. The great majority of the players drafted at this point are not much more than tackling dumbies. Most don't make the team, a lot go on the practice squad but don't stay very long. Hell there are 4th and 5th rounders in this league that go onto practice squads. Seems a little silly to get so excited about a 7th rounder this early. Perspective can be a wonderful wonderful thing.
Donald Driver was a 7th round pick, there were other very productive WR's drafted that late as well like T.J. Houshmandzadeh. This guy should have gone higher, he is a classic example of playing fast but timing slow. Good job by the Jets, they got tremendous value late in the draft and they got two guys most pundants had rated in the top 25 who will start from Day one.
