I have a big problem with this oft-repeated notion that the Patriots run is (or was) ending just through a natural progression, or the passage of time, or just because history tells us teams don't stay on top forever. Truth is, they came within a whisper of another championship last year. What that tells me is that we've got to shake the mindset that, on its own, the worm will just turn, and we NEED to be making deals for players like Adalius Thomas and Randy Moss. Otherwise, I've got a newsflash - the Patriots have TWO first round picks again next year, and seem to be turn over their roster with fresh faces pretty frequently. Drafting alone isn't going to narrow the gap between us.

On the brighter side, Miami seems to enjoy playing without the nasty pressure of having to win all the time.

This just made this weekend at nightmare for the jets. Now there is not a doubt in anyones mind the Patriots are the team to beat next year and probably years beyond. The Jets no matter what they do can not catch up the Pats this year or possibly the next two or three. F*CK THE PATS!

You are 100% correct! I couldn't have said it better.

If he's still running 4.28 [nvm: misread that part of the inital post], he's not too old. If all Belichick/Pioli is giving up for him is one of their two 4th round picks, it's not desperation. If Patriots fans are acting like the Kelley Washington signing is a big deal, that's their problem, not Belly's.

That's true and they have already been made the favorite based on this move. They passed everybody.

Please reread my post. I was responding to the second part of Jetzz' comment.

Again, I was responding to the second part of Jetzz' sentence about Moss being a douchebag. People don't change their stripes at his age. He's always going to be an idiot.

All we've done is trust Mangini. And rightfully so. But I have a hunch-- maybe just maybe Belichick knows what he's doing.. He has won.. I dont know.. 3 Super Bowls? If they had gotten another first down or a stop, they probably would have Super Bowl 4. What does he do? He gets Adalius Thomas, he makes a ton of moves, Belli has put his team in great position to win a SB this year.

I agree too. Perfectly put. It's one thing to be a fan which I have been since 1965. It's another to put blind faith in a front office because of one good draft (one in which we used 10 picks btw). This draft was not great by any means. The choice to totally avoid free agency with the exception of bringing in some old retreads was another. Good teams get better through a combination of both despite what Mangini and Tannenbaum say.

I never wanted Moss on the Jets. Not worth the headache. I realize the Patriots did not surrender much to acquire him. I still don't think he's worth having on a team. He's also dropped off significantly. His best years are behind him.

Apparently the Jets don't think this draft is all that deep and basically dumped out with two players and Jones. Maybe the Pats saw the same thing so they used their money on some great players in FA, picked what they liked and traded out to get picks for next year when the draft might be stronger?

Moss on our team makes little to no sense. A young coach, etc. But he's perfect for New England. Brady was throwing to garbage receivers last year, now he's got good receivers to play with.

Yeah, I fixed that part. Still, he doesn't need to become a Boy Scout, he just needs to refocus his game. The man is in his 30s now, he knows he won't be around forever. He wants to win, and this is his chance. He's a jackass, but he's no idiot. He won't blow this chance.

THis might bother me if I didn't realize the Jets were so much better than the Patriots in every way possible right now.
