The Pats just got Randy Moss for this years 4th rounder (We got Kevan Barlow with ours ) Signed Adalius Thomas, resigned Asante Samuel, signed Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, and a few other lesser players....... Meanwhile we had an extremely quiet free agency with all the money we could have spent (I understand we got Thomas Jones but, that's it) We honestly acquired 4 players who are going to make an impact this year, 2 guys who are rookies, and a DE/OLB who has never started before, and Thomas Jones (Which I think was the best move of anyone this offseason). I honeslty feel like we're going to go backwards next year, the Patriots were already better than us, and just went out and stacked their entire team.....
No. We haven't done remotely enough to compete with the Patriots. We will compete with them if Brady gets hurt though. That's kind of what the situation was last year too.
The truth is that no one in the league has done enough to compete with the Patriots. There really wasn't anything we could do when Randy Moss basically refused to go to any other team other than the Pats. They deserve props for making the move and the other moves they made but i think the Jets have a plan and at this point we don't have the talent to match up with the Patriots. However, just because we don't have the talent doesn't mean we can't beat them. There are so many things that can happen during an NFL season and we just have to let everything play out.
Pats have personalities, a lot of them. Talk to me when when the ship sinks and everone of those personalities become media team destroyers. You cannot buy a SB(signed Al Davis and Snyder)
We also have the benefit of playing them game one. They have LOT'S of new guys now, do you think it will all jell week one? Especially when those so called cancers aren't going to get much playing time in pre
I don't see why Randy wouldn't have come to New York, although we have nothing to give up, and I'm not sure I even want him >__> I do think we could have signed a guy like Nate Clements though.... sadley though that's about the only other thing we could have done this offseason. I feel like we've been in handcuffs while the Pats keep getting better and better.
Did you honestly think that there was enough talent on this team that one draft would have closed the gap, because I sure as hell didn't. I don't expect to be able to compete with them on a regular basis on a man for man basis for at least another 2 drafts and one good free agency period. The cupboard was pretty bare here... Ellis
Put it this way, before this draft we had a secondary that would hav been toasted by Brady, Moss and the rest of their Offense. Now at least we have two shut down corners to make it a bit more tough for the pats when they play us. Not to mention Rhodes, Harris, Vilma, Thomas etc..... To tell you the truth, the Jets will definitly NOT be push overs next year, and they will be MUCH better talant wise then they were last year. So spin that any way you want it. Cry in your shirt about Moss and what the Pats paid for this year. BUt it all comes down to conditioning, healthy players, and game time. We were 10-6 last year. We are MUCH better this year. P.S. The draft is not over yet. I didnt hear a bell, did you?
I don't think we have, but I don't think the Jets plan was to overcome the Pats this year. The Pats are obviously trying to buy their way to another superbowl while the Jets are still building up. This was never going to be our season anyway. The Jets are looking to build the bases for a successful dynasty/consistent playoff team. The Pats are way past that stage and are after one more Superbowl. Just my opinion. Of course I'm in Australia so I pretty much have no clue what's going on
Good point.. My guess is that he will not sign, and report to camp this upcoming year.. Then the pats will trade him for draft picks next year..
unfortunately, the jets still have a long way to go but they have to "ignore" what their rivals are doing - no matter how difficult that is. with the top QB, good OL, and very good front defensive 7 the pats have had the luxury of stockpiling picks and now be aggressive this year in FA. They have not had to make many hi sexy picks on the skill players.....QB, RB, OL, OLB. instead they have filled their bags in the early rounds with DB, DL, and TE. the depth created from this combo has allowed them to sign those FA or trade for people like dillon, colvin, thomas, harrison, moss etc etc. with the jets IMO, we do not have the top QB, RB, OL and have had to attend to these positions the last 2 years because of injury, depth and talent issues. this has created a definite lag effect with the rest of the roster. starting only last year , the jets began to put themselves into a position that will likley mirror the pats but not for another 2-3 years, imo so lets be patient and and see what happens jil
It is all about the system, we have a strong core currently being built and it is a competitive team, they have more talent and depth, but who knows maybe they could implode because of all the new additions and the old guard
To overcome them this upcoming season, no way! But, I don't think anyone expected us to be able to this quickly, it's a building process and I do think last years and yes, this years draft have taken us a few more steps in that direction. I am not among the doom sayers who think we have taken a step backwards this draft because we only have 4 picks, I believe in quality picks, not wasted picks that will get us nothing in our original drafting positions. I do think we will be even more competitive this season then last with the New England's of the world and it will only get better. I have faith in Mangini, Tannenbaum and everyone else connected with the Jets organization. :jets:
I laugh at this post... You are SERIOUSLY delusional. I would not trust a rookie to stop one of the league premier wide receiver. Say what you will about Moss..he his head might not always be right, but he still has talent.
I think we can overcome the Pats and win the division this season. But its going to be hard. They got the players but its doesn't matter if they can't play together. Imagine Tom Brady and Randy Moss going at it. It can destroy the team. I think we have to take some shots at Tom Brady on the first week.
Are we as good as the pats? No Are we better than last year? yes I think we will have a good season and make the wild card. Then anything can happen. We went 10-6 last year with no running game. We added Thomas Jones, depth to the Dline and two solid rookies that will start on defense.
Why do you laugh at my post? Did I say that Revis would come in and school Moss? NO jackass. I said our secondary was better than it was last year. I said it would be tougher on oponents this year passing than it was last year. I laugh at your posts too. They have no basis. I never said Revis is going to come out and be a premere CB. I said we were better then we were at 10-6. Keep crying about the pats. I can't fing wait to play the Pats. Bring it.
