Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Exactly. You do want to be in the playoffs again in your lifetime, don't you? If you think you will get there as the wildcard every year, thing again and of course you make moves to block your rivals, that's what every team in every sport does. Make moves to make you better then your competition. You just proved my point.
Ok well if you want to be bashed than atleast go down with correct info. Revis was not a zone CB, he played for a pro-style defense with Wanny coaching him. He may not be the best head coach, but you can't deny that he knows his defense.
The Jets blew their wad yesterday. If you're Belichik and want to make the point that it didn't matter you go out and make a splash today. Cue Randy Moss. Oh yeah... Bill Belichick is typically an irrational man who basis all his decisions on the Jets moves.
I really have no idea how you BLOCK a team from making a trade with another team. Do you think the Jets front office is conferenced in on the negotiations between Al the Hasbeen and Bellichek? You act like the Jets were engaged in a bidding war here and lost out without firing a bullet. The Jets didnt show any interest - the same way 90% of teams didnt. That along with Moss' own demands lowered the price for the Raiders who couldnt get anything substantial for him. While there are rumors swirling around that deals might happen between any number of teams - do you expect the Jets FO to run out and make counter offers to every rumored deal the Pats are involved in? Want them to overpay so you can bash them for being manipulated by NE?? Also, your comparison to baseball is horrible. There's no real salary cap in baseball and you can not compare the sports at all. The Jets cant just step in the way the Sox or Yanks do with crazy amounts of money and outbid their competition with no real detriment to their long term franchise goals. If the Yanks overpay, they just move on. If the Jets overpay, it can set their team back a great deal. No comp btwn baseball and football - none at all. Bash away for the choices they made in the draft. But hitting the FO for not 'blocking' a deal is irrational in my view.
Can you please give me one example in NFL history where a team heard their rival was going after a player so they went in and grabbed him instead even though they didn't really want that player for that price just so they could screw over that team? Tanenbaum is a smart guy. He only cares about one team right now. The Jets. Mangini can deal with the Patriots when the Jets play them. Until then, Tanenbaum needs to focus on the Jets, not the Patriots. Can you imagine if the news came out today: "Jets trade Vilma for Randy Moss. Tanenbaum quoted as saying 'We got him because we heard the Patriots were going after him and we didn't want them to get him.'" It's just backwards thinking.
Oh no doubt, but that's the nature of any fanbase that has a rival like the Pats. Everything they do is going to be dismissed automatically by some, taken as an omen of the coming Rapture by others, and dissected to the point of redundancy by most.
Winning changes EVERYTHING, thats why Corey Dillon instantly turned into a team player. All that whining and bitching is gone now that he's playing with a perennial contender. Good point. And on top of that Randy Moss stated that the only team he would agree to be traded to was the Patriots and he re-did his contract to make it happen.
Well....are you going to give us reasons for that or just make that statement? It's even dumber to say a statement is dumb if you don't support your argument.
The statement was that people who play fantasy football have more insight into how to run an NFL team than actual NFL GMs. Therefore, fantasy football players KNOW that Randy Moss is a great grab. Do I really have to explain why this statement is dumb?
I didn't say he played in a zone defense. I meant to say he is best suited to play in a zone defense. You can find that info on him anywhere. Mangini knows dbs, no doubt. You can't coach ability though. I'll still think he was a reach at 14 until he shows he wasn't. Just take a look at what pick other great CBs were made at. About the only 2 that turned out to be any good picked higher then him were Sanders and Baily picked at 5.
You know what cracks me up? People who base their opinions on a video game. "But he scored a 10000000000000 on Madden!"
I don't buy that he's "best suited" for a zone defense. Analysts say that, because he's a big, physical CB. I think that makes him "best suited" for the Patriot style of CB, i.e. a lot of bumping and physical play coming off the line of scrimmage. He's big and physical enough to give us a chance against Moss.
What does one do when the Dynasty appears to be crumbling? You sell your soul to the devil. Boom or Bust move IMO.
I would be sooooo much dumber than I am already (not an easy task mind you) if I had the manual dexterity to do anything other than fall flat on my face as my nephew completes yet another long bomb from McNabb to Pinkney in Madden. Our record is like 17 in a row that I couldn't stop...
He was probably the best physical specimen out of any corner and his workouts showed that. That's the reason he shot up the board past leon hall in the past month or so. When you have that kind of athleticism, size, and ball skills i don't think there is a coverage he can't play. But that's just me, i only seen him play about 4 or 5 times during the season. But the WV game was enough to warrant a 1st rounder.
Well actually i was being a smart ass hoping you would come out and explain it because i couldn't understand what he was saying.
This totaly goes against the patsies style, build thru the draft. They are doing exactly what Al Davis, and Snyders have done and always try to do.......BUY a SB! As you can see, you can't. The team has to gel and have some good talent but its about team. They just got overloaded with personalities is all. This is totally a panic move by the pats, all the offseason moves suggest this. They don't have the best offensive and defensive coaches anymore. They will implode when they lose, especially to teams on paper have less talent than them. They are very afraid for some reason of the NYJs and Mangini. Every move they made, especially the overkill of WRs were made to conteract all our moves. This is there last run.
I think he was viewed by most experts as the most complete corner on the board and by far the best in providing hard hitting run support.
