And now the watch for Quinn begins, Im guessing Jacksonville, KC or Chicago with Chicago most likely. Or Detroit or Cleveland will trade up to grab him
See thats the problem right there, I am sure that Mangini's scouts is better than the mock drafts you have looked at
GB's selection of Harrell helps me support this trade. The way the board is shaking out, there wouldn't have been good value at 25.
We got better than fair value to grab the best player in the draft at a position of need. It was a brilliant move strategically. We have no critical needs going forward. There's definitely positions that can be upgraded, but status quo is fine functionally. So from here on out, we can go with the Best Player Available. Of course preference would be for one of NT, LB, OG, RT or WR. My guess based on depth of positions available is Rd. 2 = OG or WR, Rd. 3 = Remaining of those two or NT.
This was a great move. We got the best CB in the draft, and everything I read looks good. We are now set at CB. Now we have to take Paul Soliai for DT.
Don't be so sure, like I said Hall probably took some kids lunch money when he was 5 and Mangini ruled him out for that reason.
Thought I'd paste this, I'm sure most have read it already though. 14 14 N.Y. Jets Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh Vic Carucci's Analysis Although cornerback was a top need and the Jets landed one of the best corners in the draft, they did give up quite a bit to Carolina for this pick. Maybe they gave up too much. Revis is an excellent athlete, a good playmaker and has the skills to fit well in Eric Mangini's Cover 2 scheme. The only way that the Jets won't be accused of being a robbery victim is if Revis proves to be a smothering cover guy, which is what separates the best cornerbacks from the rest. Gil Brandt: Revis is a player that played only three years of college football and he probably is as good as any athlete in this draft when you consider his quickness and his change of direction. And, he's big. Everyone is looking for big corners, and he's tall and can play the run and match up against the speediest wide receivers. After he played his final high school game as a senior, he went out the next day and scored 38 points in a basketball game against his school's strongest opponent. Pat Kirwan: Over the past three weeks, he moved past Leon Hall for the top corner spot. I talked to a number of Big East coaches who say he has man-to-man skills to be a matchup corner in the NFL -- eight INTs in college only tell half the story; 25 passes defended was more impressive.
this draft pick mean pro bowl for kerry rhodes. 3-5 ints, 6-10 sacks. the jets now have the LUXURY of blitzing rhodes not because we HAVE to like last season, but because we CAN, anytime, anyplace we want. do you realize how RARE it is in the NFL to have TWO top corners AND a probowl, shut down safety???? The jets now own the top rated passing defense in the nfl, and can focus almost entirely on run blitzing and stacking the box. This is big folks.
My guess is that Cincinnati will grab Hall... and KC may take Ross. So there probably wouldn't have been any options at CB at 25.
