May-Rod is performing exactly how I expect him to at this time of the year. Lets see how he performs when the pressure is on (Late August, September) and the games really count. :drunk:
Yes. But games in September have a more current and recent impact at that time of year. The september/october at bats are trying to validate everything you have done prior to that. That's the pressure involved late in the year.
If you win enough games in april and may, then in september the regulars are resting. trying to make that argument is just silliness.
You expected him to have 10 home runs in 14 games, lead the AL in 5 categories, and have 2 walk-off, 2 out home runs? Wow, no wonder people boo him.
AROD is representing this year like he has never or anybody has before. and has one more record to break in april and thats pujols record in april of 14homeruns.
I'm actually looking forward to September/October for ARod. He's a totally different ballplayer right now than he was the past couple years. He's the same guy who was the league's best player when he played further west. And he's having fun again. The look on his face yesterday when he hit that ball was priceless!
The real question is whether or not the Yankees will give him an extension if he does. There are probably 3 or 4 teams that will. He is sure to walk if they don't. They still have him as an absolute bargain at 15 million a year for the next three years. If he walks that goes away for whatever team signs him.
How come when Arod hits a home run, he turns toward the Yankee bench, spreads his arms like the pope, does a little bow, and does a curtsy?
Anyone who thinks the pressure in games in April, may and June are like September and october is kidding themseleves.
October is surely different. What pressure is there in September if you have a 10 game lead like the Yankees had last year? So if you build a lead in the spring the rest of the year is a cakewalk.
August-Sept then, the pressure last year was in August and he was terrible in August then when we had the div wrapepd up he got hot. We play in a tough division and it's not oing to be a cakewalk every year so to expect to win the div by 10 games again is unrealistic. Sure it could happen but the chances are very slim.
Better check your facts. In the 5 game sweep of Boston in August he batted .333. I guess that would be terrible to an Arod hater though.
You are right, did have some key RBI in that series so he did come through for a change but in Aug he hit .277 then in September he hit .358.
.358 or .258? .358 is no slouch. Even if it was .258 as I said before the division was won by then anyway so it really didn't matter. October is a different story which I agreed with. Everybody knows he had an off year by his standards. Still he batted .290 with 121 RBIs and 35 HRs.
Oops, August should ahve been .277 not .377. My point was in august when it wasn't decided he hit .27 then w/ zero pressure he hit .358 in Sept.
