Remove Justin Miller from the CB position altogether on the Jets and they're not substantially worse off than they were last year. Have David Barrett and Andre Dyson healthy for all 16 games and they're much better than they were last year.

If Miller turns into a good CB that's great. Right now he's a great return man and that's all the Jets absolutely have to have out of him.

He can't cover, he can't tackle, and he stinks. We used a 2nd rd pick on a KO returner...

He may or he may not. He could be a 10 year all-pro or he could be David Boston all over again. No way to tell which way that breaks. I can think of a half-dozen WR's in the NFL I'd take over CJ right now and I wouldn't give up Cotchery to get him on the roster either.

Being a sane David Boston would actually be a great thing, considering the way he started his career, and his personal strange body problems got in the way causing a lot of his injuries.

i wouldnt argue taking a proven player over a prospect....thats just sound personnel thinking. i would take a shot if we could get CJ for cotch straight up....i like cothery a lot....but this kid has the chance to be all time great....not saying JC cant become elite....but the physical gifts CJ has is scary. a smart qb to get him the ball, and hes gonna be a force in the league (as long as he can keep his head straight).

i know im gonna get killed for the JC for CJ thing here though...

  9. The hatred of Justin Miller on this board just boggles my mind. SHowing clips of him in college to bash him is just throwing things over the top.

Anyone who doesnt see the obvious talent the guy has, is just kidding themselves, and for some bizarre reason hate him. He's 23 years old!!!! He just made the pro bowl as a returner. Give him time for god sake...I'm just lost as to why there is such an agenda against Miller.

He's one of the best kick returners in the league.

He's fast, but he can't tackle, and he can't cover. And when he does actually cover someone, he always gets flagged. So he failed on 2 of 3 key attributes to being a CB. No knock on him being a KO guy, but let's not pretend he's someone he's not...a good CB.

    well put.

in my opinion, i think people hold his draft spot against him. as a R2 pick, a lot of people expect him to be this shut-down CB immediately.

personally, with the tools he has, i'm willing to wait longer to see if he develops because there aren't many CB's who possess his skills. i think this year we'll see him make a leap, as Mangini will have had two Offseasons to work with him.

    cheers

The problem that I have with him is that he seems to take plays off. It's like he's not always there mentally 100% when he's out playing DB. Maybe his mind wanders or he gets distracted. I'm not sure but he has to learn to focus or else he simply will be ONLY a return man and will not be allowed on the field as a DB.

I think it's a Bradway backlash. Obviously I'm not an unbiased presenter here, but I think a lot of people got pretty tired of how smart Bradway thought he was with some of his "raw talent" evaluations. Miller is the perfect example of that philosophy and the last one that Bradway produced so I think he's gonna be seen as a waste of a 2nd round pick until he turns into a fulltime player.

Personally I'm happy with him as a kick returner and as long as he's not screwing up in the defensive backfield I think he's a big plus on the team.

well let's not jump the gun and say he's bad. i don't think we can conclude just yet. let's wait until he plays more, gains more experience, matures more, learns the system more, adjusts to the speed of the game more. the list goes on and on.

not everyone can enter the NFL and pick up everything right away. some people take longer than others to grasp things.

right now, he's an outstanding KR and okay depth at CB, with potential to be an awesome CB. why isn't this good enough?

    cheers

yes, hes a great return guy.....but his coverage skills are shit. he had more PI call than any other jets DB.....his game defensively doesnt (or at least hasnt) translated to the NFL....he has shown very little improvement on defense since he was drafted. usually good players make this thing, its called progress. he hasnt made much.

i dont think anyone can (or does) hold anything against bradway for what miller is lacking for now. it isnt bradways fault the guy hasnt made a good transition....its on miller more than anyone. i want to see him succeed.....hes on our team, we need him to be good....he just hasnt shown the kind of talent at the pro level that he did in college.

anybody hating on the kid b/c TB drafted him is an asshole....plain and simple.
