Im not really in a position to comment on this having only been to one game but I was at the Jets Buffalo game late in december and there was several Bills fans sitting around us.

They had a celebrate and they got some freindly banter back but I did not see any sign of it getting angry or out of hand at all.

Considering the guy goes to the games with his wife and 10 year old son, I think it's safe to assume he's not getting hammered drunk, and running his mouth. I don't really need a response- the argument isn't about the guy- it's about the jerkoffs who act like tough guys to a 10 year old kid, or a 14 year old girl, or a mans wife-- I remember several people on here bitching about the same thing at a pats game, and everyone on here called them scumbags.

If you want to think you're a tough guy, and yell at a little kid, or his 50 year old dad at a game, then you go right ahead.

highly unlikely- I know the guy- you do not, so your opinion is pretty much worthless. Regardless of this guy it is an issue-- talk to the jets fans who got shit at the Pats games-- I heard a guy call on 660 saying he got caught with a blind side punch in the head at a pats game, just walking back to his car.

But of course, it just wouldn't be a TGG thread if someone didn't twist things around.

See, you're putting words in my mouth now, and I don't really appreciate that. I never condoned yelling at kids, or grandmas, Santa Clause or any of that. When people go too see a competitive sport, they go in to support there team. When opposing fans are present, people are going to target them. If you can't deal with that, get yourself a big screen tv and stay home.

As far as the guy not getting hammered drunk, you don't know that too be true. The guy is at a football game with his wife, who could easily be his DD. Thats really not the point though. Your original post has a blurb about your buddy who gets beers thrown at him wherever he goes. I've been to the Giants, Eagles, Bucs, and Phins stadiums as well as various hockey arenas and baseball stadiums, and I've never had a beer thrown at me. I drink and get loud too. I'm a 26 year old guy, usually at games with my girlfriend. I'm not a big intimidating guy either, average height, average weight. Why don't people throw beer at me?

Soccer fans get pretty damn roudy before and after games...probably more so then the NFL fans do. If he gets crap wherever he goes to watch football, he'd probably get it way worse at a soccer game.

In my experience, if you go to another stadium, and give friendly banter, it is ok, if you are drunk and belligerent.... well that's your problem... we were at Jets Bills when Chad hurt his shoulder the first time... the drunk Bills fan in front of us was so wasted, the Bills fans turned on him -

No, I'm really not-- this is the behavior I am calling out, and you are in disagreement.

There is nothing more pathetic than when home fans verbally or even physically assault the minority visiting team supporters (I live in southeastern PA so I know all about it). The visiting fans paid for their tickets and have every right to cheer for their team as anyone else in the stadium. As long as they're not acting like a$$holes, they deserve that respect.

Some people are going to be drunk and stupid at games, and you probably won't find many of them that care enough about the game itself to go on a football message board to talk about football, because they're there to get drunk and be an idiot and they think the price of their season tickets gives them that right.

My brother and a couple of his mates tipped a cooler full of urine on a teenaged fan that had passed out at a game. The teenager had passed out from drinking too much. My brother and his mates had started to piss in the cooler because of the long queues to get into the toilets. It wasn't at an American football game though.

The only place I felt threatened was in Miami. I have been to games in Tampa, Jax, and ATL and never had a problem.

At the games I attended last year, sitting behind and next to Bills fans at one point, everyone was civil and no punches were being thrown, nor was beer spilled, no spit was spat.

It really comes down to personalities- the ones starting trouble at games are just miserable f'cks in real life in alot of cases, mad at the world- the same guys who are inclined to hit their wife or kids for no good reason, to start a fight at a bar or take road rage to the next level- simply put, they can't operate with a clear head- and it doesn't matter what team they follow. There are asshole Jets fans, along with every other team in professional sports.

Add drinks to the equation and things can escalate quickly. I for one don't drink at games but would not stand for anyone throwing a punch at me or spilling beer on my child- I would strike at the offender with reckless abandon.

Funny he should complain…I’ve watched the Jets get their asses handed to them in a number of different stadiums and the two worst ones were the Steelers and shitty Jacksonville Jaguars.

Believe it or not – the fans in Jacksonville were far and away the biggest assholes I’ve ever been surrounded by.

For the most part, the only visiting fans that catch hell, are the ones who go out of their way to taunt the home fans. They stand up, face the crowd and look to stir up the nonsense. Those are the ones who get abused and rightly so.

Feel free to stand up and cheer for your team...but don't put the home fans on the spot by trying to embarrass them because your taking your life in your hands by doing so.
